I remember my first semester and dreading the day I'd have to start Capstone, thinking it would be impossible. Now, I'm amazed at how much work I've done for Capstone and how much better it went than I'd expected. This semester went by really fast, but I'm glad the end is here. This week we just have to finalize a few things and put it into our presentation deck, as we are pretty much done with most of our work. One thing that we had been struggling with was finding our WOW factor. We see our client almost every week... Continue reading

We've been working hard all semester, but it wasn't until this week when we were able to finalize some things that actually seemed like we've made some progress. Jordan and I gave an informal presentation on what we have worked on and recommended so far to our full team (client and designers) this past week. We were able to agree on certain areas with our client and get approval to finalize some of our deliverables. One thing thats been coming up a lot lately in both capstone and other classes is that "people don't know what they don't know." This... Continue reading

Our client scheduled our presentation for August 5, which is nice to know ahead of time so we can plan out our work, but it has come so quickly! Not only do we have to complete all our deliverables from the charter, we also have some extra tasks that our client asked for our help with yesterday. Aside from all this, we found some new things to really focus on and challenge ourselves after meeting with Drew for our Project Review. We just have a lot to do. We typically meet with our client at least once a week, but... Continue reading

We're more than half way through the semester, but we have way more than half the work to finish. We tried to plan ahead and make our team a chart outline what we would be doing each week, but as we've gone through the process we've realized that many of our tasks overlap or depend on another task. It's also summer and a lot of our contacts have been hard to reach, which also changes our timeline up. We've received several "out of the office until..." emails, which postpones tasks. I know we will finish everything, but I think we... Continue reading

There's only a few weeks left and seems like things are really coming together. This week we are finalizing our product strategy, analyzing 200+ survey responses, and setting up some interviews to facilitate next week. Most of our Capstone from here on out will be continuing research and collecting insights. We have a lot of survey responses to weed through and analyze, but hopefully we have collected some good/helpful information. I think the interviews we are going to facilitate will be helpful in finding more specific information that will be beneficial to our research. One tool that has really helped... Continue reading

So far things are going pretty well. This past week our team worked on Attribute Value Mapping, allowing us to identify the attributes and benefits of our product, which was pretty similar to the brand pyramid we also created. We then tried to work with the designers on our project to get them to pretty much brag about their design, but struggled a little at first. After we gave them a little push by asking questions like "how an attribute does something," "why an attribute does something," or "with what technology" a million times, they started to get the hang... As we continue to do our secondary research of competitors, we have also started our primary research. We have finalized our survey and begun to distribute it. We want a large number of respondents so we are using Mechanical Turk to distribute the survey. Our group is a little nervous that we won't reach enough of our target market. The beginning of our survey has filter questions to help us weed out the respondents that are not in our target market, but they are still included in our total number of respondents. We have a very small budget, so if... Continue reading

The last 4 weeks have come and gone so quickly. It doesn't seem like we have gotten much work done for having worked on this project for a month already, but looking at how much time and revisions go into creating a charter, I'd say we're right on track. We have finalized and signed our charter and started some of our market research. We're still in the process of building a survey to reach our target market. We want the survey to help us with pricing, importance of features, as well as naming the product. Our plans for this week... Continue reading

Our third week went pretty well. After our initial client meeting we created a first draft of our charter and met with our Live Well team to discuss our deliverables. It was interesting and went pretty well. The deliverables we suggested were pretty much the same as the deliverables they were expecting, but there was a little but of confusion with terminology. Presenting our initial charter in person allowed us to talk and work through any miscommunications without having to go back and forth over email to get everyone on the same page. So far we have left each meeting... Continue reading

Our group was pretty nervous for our initial client meeting with Live Well and Children's so we got together the night before our meeting. This really helped us bring our research together and get on the same page as a team. After getting together as a team, some of our nerves had eased and we felt much more comfortable heading into our initial client meeting. The next day we met with our client. We created a 1-pager for our client, which they really seemed to like. It included an introduction of our team, our Capstone process, a rough timeline, and... Continue reading

Capstone is here! I'm both excited and of course nervous about the project, but I know I have a great group to work with. I'm also excited about working with LiveWell. I was somewhat familiar with LiveWell prior to Capstone and I know they have worked on some really interesting and cool projects. I think our team will work well with LiveWell and will be able to deliver what they are looking for (once we figure out what that is). We meet with them this week and will also receive the report from the previous Capstone team that worked with... Continue reading
