Looks wonderful! We'd make a good quilting team - I have piles of quilt tops and loathe sandwiching & quilting. But I love hand binding so there's that. If I were rich and famous, I'd have all my tops sent out for professional quilting. The girls are sure to cherish these forever.
quilt for baby two.
I got the quilt finished up late Thursday night. My hold-up is always getting the top together. The rest, sandwiching, quilting and binding tends to go so quick for me. Just like with Ellerie's quilt, I waited to wash the fabrics until AFTER I had sewn it all together. This is totally person...
The tape wall is a great idea. I wonder if it will stick on our textured walls... it's something I'd like to try because I change my mind so often.
toddler + baby room.
Over the weekend we finished up Ellerie & baby girl number two's (who we are 99% sure has a name but I'll most likely not share it until she's here) room. I am so happy with how it turned out and really happy that it was a fairly inexpensive make-over. You can see what Ellerie's room looked li...
The book turned out fantastic. I wonder if my almost 5 year old would like this. Worth a shot. Thanks for the code!
toddler favorite things book.
Ellerie LOVES books. We're getting to the good part too - when she will actually SIT and LISTEN to a full story from beginning to end (I used to have to cliff notes the story in order to keep up with her attention span). She also likes to "read" them to us too. My favorite part of that experie...
Thank you Elise! This is wonderful. I like how the white paint seeped under the letters a tiny bit. I'm working on lots of gallery walls all over our house, and this print will be perfect for either the playroom or my son's bedroom. Can't wait to print it out. I think I'll make one that says "Follow Your Arrow" to go on our arrow gallery wall too. Good vibes for your big decisions! Thanks again.
simple quote canvas art (& a free downloadable print).
striped tape from oh happy day shop & cute elephant print from Fox Hollow Design on etsy. Last week I was on Pinterest and came across my favorite Harry Potter quote for the 700th time. This time it was inspiring enough - we're currently in the middle of making some big decisions that feel lif...
Thanks Jacee! I was at Ulta yesterday and noticed the It cosmetics line, but didn't look at it. I wish I would have. I saw the Yes To Grapefruit stuff at Target, but it's all on super clearance at both of my stores. They didn't have my color left, and I figured it must be getting discontinued.
I ended up getting Juice Beauty CC Cream at Ulta, which is actually recommended by EWG. I'm not sure I love it enough yet (just wore it for half a day) to keep it, so I'll check out your recommendation!
final green skincare post.
Over the years I have shared many a post about "green skincare." (The most recent was March 2014.) I've spent the last four years intentionally and unintentionally narrowing down the amount of product I use on my skin. Originally this came from realizing some of the harmful chemicals we slathe...
I was going to ask the same thing. I was thinking of making a rug like this as well. What kind of needle are you using (question for both Naomi and Elise)? I need to look into it more, but maybe there's a better type of needle to use instead of a universal. Perhaps a denim/heavy duty needle?
around here.
FRI-YAY! As mentioned last week, it was Camp Mama at our house with daycare closed. I realize how lucky I am to have a work schedule that's flexible and thanks to some prep work and emails at nap time (which has mysteriously dropped to 2 hours max?!??!), I spent the days on Ellerie's t...
This is a timely post for me, as I've recently started making the switch to products with more quality ingredients. I have been using the EWG Skin Deep database to help me choose and it has been really helpful. If a product isn't listed there, I can still use it to look up the ingredients.
I'm obsessed with Egyptian Magic cream for my face moisturizer. I have (had?) oily skin but since using this (and alternating with Josie Maran Light Argan Oil depending on how dry my skin feels or if I want to apply makeup right away) my skin drinks it up and I don't have oil slicks anymore. I think it has to do with balancing out your oil levels so your skin doesn't produce as much.
I just switched from Maybelline Full & Soft mascara, which I've used since they introduced it back in the day, to LOVING Mineral Fusion Volumizing Mascara (found at Whole Foods). I used F&S so long because all other mascaras irritated my eyes. The Mineral Fusion does not irritate my eyes and it looks so good on my lashes. Maybelline tests on animals, which is so unfortunate. Animal testing just so people can look pretty just seems so shallow and wrong.
I'm looking for a tinted moisturizer or CC cream type product with a good amount of SPF, a deodorant, and a body SPF, so I'm eager to check out the links and suggestions. Thanks!

I definitely remember the Whole30 Egg Rut. I love eggs, but relying on them for Whole30 makes them so monotonous. As for oatmeal, I haven't tried this, but I've heard that it's wonderful: http://againstallgrain.com/2013/01/04/banana-nut-porridge/
This might be totally out there, but I have a few popular paleo cookbooks I am getting rid of (a result of KonMari). If you're interested, I'd love to pass them along to you. Just let me know!
whole30 halfway point.
Yesterday was day 15 of Whole30. If you are unfamiliar with the program, you can read more here. The quick gist is, no grains, no beans, no rice, no dairy, no sugar of any kind, no artificial sugar, no alcohol. It's sort of like Paleo but there are a few differences. There are other guidelines...
Have an awesome trip! Looking forward to the "Own Your Sh*t" post. Great shoes too!
headed to portland!
I am so excited to head up to Portland today for WDS. Last summer Paul came along but sadly it didn't work out this time so it's just me adventuring out. Sort of like a business trip. Actually, exactly like a business trip. I get to travel "for work" a few times a year. Sometimes it's a confer...
