Note: obviusly CH stands for Christus = Christ Note: probably M was written like W... in order to gain the attention of the reader... it is a sign-guide for the interpretation of all the code. Note: Mea Domina - Madonna - Virgin Mary
Considering what Marc van Hasselt has written… +ND XOX CH WDN CH DXO RVI+ ND - Noster Dominus XOX – Trinity CH – Christ WDN=MDN – Mea Domina (Virgin Mary) CH – Christ DXO – Holy Ghost or… “might again refer to God, Christ and the Holy Ghost” (van Hasselt) RUI – 1) “might (then) refer to the owner or maker of the blade” (van Hasselt) 2) rui can be consider like a verb in LATIN: ruo, is, rui, rutum, ere – that means “I behaved in a bad way (in the past) without considering the consequences of my actions”. In italian this verb can mean “essere precipitoso, operare alla cieca, agire sconsideratamente”. Note: in this interpretation we can consider this sword as a object that begs pardon for something that it has done in the past. Note: this kind of “invocation” is introduced by a scheme that has Virgin Mary in its center, if the reader recognize that scheme… as a guide-code, he can obtain without problems all the other words, that are positioned… in a evident scheme of symmetry. ***This symmetry is broken in a point: XOX versus DOX… but this is not a mistake if we consider that XOX stands for Trinity… and in Trinity is not structured by a scheme of perfect symmetry, because Holy Ghost is “weaker” than the others two parts: so DOX is probably the Holy Ghost itself… (but obviously it is only one of all the possible interpretations). ***This symmetry has Virgin Mary in its center (heart)… and Virgin Mary is usually considered as “Mater Misericordiae” (Mather of Mercy)… and the role played by Virgin Mary (considered in this way) can lead us to consider “RUI” as a verb… through which this sword begs pardon for something wrong that “she” did in the past… ***Besides the inscription could be done (even if it is not necessary true)… some periods after the sword was made… but to say that we need a specific study… ***Resuming: this sword is a “speaking-sword”. Sorry for my English… I am Italian.
Moreover if you consider the two crosses... you have a "CROSS POTENT"... that was usually linked to the Kingdom of Jerusalem...
An alternative version could be: “Noster Dominus Christus helped (AUX stands for auxit in a cutted form) this sword (in the past) - (and now) given as a sign of friendship to the Christian-world” Did this sword belong to a crusader or... similar? ...
I read this article and so… N-oster D-ominus X (“X” stands for CS in latin) Christus OX (“Ox” stands for Aux… that stand for a cut-form of latin verb “augeo”) help CHWDRGHD – sword (in german, even if it is misspelled) X-enium – gift (in particular xenium means “a gift made as a sign of friendship”) ORVI (Orvi probably stands for Orbi in a common misspelled-degenerated version) to the (Christian?) world “Noster Dominus Christus help (imperative) this sword - given as a sign of friendship to the Christian-world”
