My blog post is a little late this week but for good reason. Today, Scott and I presented our final presentation to our client, The HealthCare Connection. I wanted to wait and post after the presentation in order to give the best advice I possibly could because the final presentation is a major component of the last three month's work. The presentation went great. Everyone seemed really receptive to what we had to say and eager to start incorporating some of our ideas into their current marketing promotions. The research component of our project seemed to resonate with the group... Continue reading

While I am nervous about the fact that the semester is coming to an end and therefore our project is due for completion, I feel like Scott and I are in a really good place with our project. The class session about our final presentation was definitely helpful in terms of helping us polish up our presentation skills. What surprised me the most is that Drew's advice was the complete opposite of what I have been taught my whole life so far regarding PowerPoint slides, but it made so much sense once he explained why. We are incorporating his template... Continue reading

These last few days have been stressful for me as the reality of the upcoming deadlines are really starting to kick in. Last week, Scott and I submitted a report to our client detailing some initial findings during our qualitative research. Along with our value mapping workshop completed recently, we feel strongly that we are heading in a good direction. Now, time seems to be the only thing standing in our way. The next few weeks we plan to work on our proposed big picture as well as a communication strategy. I have begun going through the social media accounts... Continue reading

Today, Scott and I met with our client and Drew to complete the Value Mapping Workshop that we learned in class. Thankfully, it went very well and both the client and the group learned some valuable insights. Our motive behind wanting to complete this with Drew was to re-affirm that we were on the right track with our research and to possibly uncover any additional ideas in the form of communication and messaging with the patients. This exercise proved to be extremely beneficial to our project and we finally have a solid direction to focus on in terms of marketing... Continue reading

It's starting to feel like our capstone project is coming together. Today, Scott and I met to take a look at our research results again and work on our Big Picture framework. We examined multiple advertisements provided by our client in hopes to be able to better understand where they're at currently. We seem to be making good process. This week we will begin putting together a report of our research findings. Due to multiple scheduling issues, we hope to finally be able to set a date for the value mapping exercise and be able to complete it with our... Continue reading

This past week, Scott and I started conducting research for our client. We were able to intercept patients at The HealthCare Connection while they were in the waiting room or after they had seen the doctor and were on their way out. It proved challenging to get people not only to participate but to give us valuable insights. Some people were more willing to share their experiences while others didn't want anything to do with us. We often were forced to go 'off-script' to try to gather as much information as possible. Despite some adversity, we were able to gather... Continue reading

Just when I thought that our project was rolling right along, a slight change of plans have emerged. After meeting with our client to go over our charter and research ideas, everyone seemed excited and ready to get going. It seems that since then, we have ran into a few snags with the direction our client wants us to take. While our main focus has been increasing the number of patients, now our client would also like us to look into some research with non-patients or in this particular case, donors. Scott and I agreed that because of time constraints... Continue reading

This past week, we met with Drew for our first project review. At first, I thought meeting with him wouldn't be very beneficial since our project with The Healthcare Connection was really just getting started, but it turns out that it was indeed helpful. Scott and I were able to update him on our current progress including some of the setbacks we were already experiencing. Drew was able to go over our charter with us and offer us feedback relating to the goal of our project. We were having trouble getting our client to pin down their exact specific quantifiable... The weeks already seem to be going by very fast! It's been challenging trying to juggle class schedules and work schedules between my partner and I, and our client. We are making it work though! Scott and I were able to complete our charter last week and hopefully will have it finalized by our client later this week. Creating the schedule was particularly stressful because I was finally able to realize just how much work we had left to do in a short amount of time. Currently, we are working on the research component of the project and creating our... Continue reading

Like most of my fellow classmates, I was both excited and extremely nervous walking into my first capstone class. I was excited that I would be able to work with a non-profit, but also nervous for what was to come. Drew made it quite clear in class that this project will be a lot of work and that time will be our greatest enemy. I believe time will be my number one concern throughout this semester with a full schedule of classes and part-time work to go along with it. The client I am working with is The Healthcare Connection... Continue reading
