We finally hit our first significant roadblock just in time for our final blog post. This past week we were informed that our key client has left P&G. While this won’t affect the trajectory of our work too much (we hope), it’s a bit concerning only because we have yet to meet our new client. Having worked closely with our old client, we are hopeful that Casi (our new client) will be as excited and receptive of our work. Looking on the bright side, this provides us with an opportunity to surprise and delight our client, which previously wasn’t possible... Continue reading

As the semester is winding down, we’re still tying up loose ends. We’ve gone back and forth over the past few weeks about whether or not we want the project to extend into the summer. Ultimately, we’ve determined that while allowing the agency to quantitatively test and mock-up our ideas would greatly elevate our final deliverable, it may not be necessary. Thus, we’ve proposed a new timeline/final deliverable to our client and are waiting to hear back from her. In the meantime, we’re working on completing our qualitative research. Right now, we’re reaching out to potential target consumers personally since... Continue reading

Over the past two weeks, our team has made sound progress, officially entering the research phase of our project. We are feeling confident in our direction and look forward to narrowing and refining our best ideas once we finish the qualitative research. The past few weeks have been critical turning points in our project. After our second check-in with Drew, we left feeling comfortable about where we were and more certain about where we needed to be. Our challenge right now is in getting in touch with research participants for qualitative testing. We finished our rough mock-ups of our ideas... Continue reading

Last week was a nice departure from the monotony of the previous few weeks. Our team had been at a standstill with, what felt (still feels) like, much to accomplish, but had little confidence to move forward without alignment from our client. Thus, when we got an email from Jordan suggesting a brief sit-down with Mandy, we jumped on the opportunity. Knowing Mandy is incredibly busy, we wanted to take advantage of any chance that we got to chat with her face-to-face. The meeting with Mandy proved to be quite beneficial. We were able to present her with our final... Continue reading

This past week has been quite slow for our team. Between being out of town and not hearing back from our client, I’m feeling a bit out of the loop. It’s the first week that we haven’t made significant progress on our project, so that’s left me feeling a bit anxious to get things rolling again. I'm looking forward to using class time tonight to meet with Kelsey and Claire to discuss next steps. As previously mentioned, we’re struggling to get in touch with our client about important feedback from a meeting out of town. After several attempts to reach... Continue reading

This past week was fairly uneventful for our team. With our client recently returning from an out of town meeting with the Costco marketing team, we are anxiously awaiting feedback on the ideas we delivered after our last SIT session. In the mean time, we’ve considered how we’re going to approach the research phase of our project. It's comforting to know that we have completed the SIT phase of our project, but with the research phase still to come, there is still considerable time for challenges to arise. We went into class Monday having had little discussion (at least in-depth... Continue reading

Another week has come and gone and, thankfully, I’m still feeling good about where we are in the process. As Kelsey mentioned in her post, it’s a little overwhelming to consider the amount of time left and all the work still to do, but we’ve stuck to our timeline and have made weekly progress, so that’s reassuring. I’m trying to be aware, but not apprehensive about the work we have ahead of us. We have not run into any great challenges (knock on wood,) and we’ve landed on some solid ideas, all while successfully maintaining communication and alignment with our... Continue reading

This past week was another successful one for our team. We conducted an SIT session with the client that proved to be really valuable. Though there were some minor obstacles in coordinating/confirming the meeting, it all worked out in the end. It was a good reminder though that alignment is key. Working with the client and other P&G employees using SIT was a great experience. Not only was everyone engaged and excited, but we also came out of it with several solid ideas. It helped that as we came across ideas, the client was able to identify why or why... Continue reading

It’s difficult to believe that this is already the fourth week of the semester, but things seem to be moving in the right direction, though still perhaps more slowly than we would like. It’s becoming increasingly evident that communication and simple task organization take more time than I initially thought it would. Still, we have adopted a solid workflow in which each of us plays a key part in keeping the team aligned and motivated. After our first meeting with Drew, I felt confident in our direction, but also more aware of our project’s challenges. Realizing the tight constraints of... Continue reading

In the past week, my team and I have made sound progress on our project, which has left me feeling confident, but also a bit apprehensive. Things feel as if they’re moving slower than they should be, but at the same time we’re sticking to our timeline and that’s reassuring. In this past week, we have solidified our charter and have interacted with project-relevant products first-hand, both of which have given us better clarity into the problem at hand and our goals. The completion of our project charter has provided us with increased alignment and organization that will be vital... Continue reading

My capstone journey has officially begun and I couldn’t be more excited. Not only does this semester mark my last as a graduate student, but it also reflects the ultimate culmination of the knowledge and skills I’ve accumulated over the past year. Initially, I was a bit apprehensive about the project having heard stories from past students. In our first class, Drew made it clear that the course would be challenging, which I expected. My first insight came from class when Drew highlighted the two key obstacles—variability and ambiguity—that will inevitably impact each team. Since then, and moving forward, I’m... Continue reading
