My moment came very recently actually, though I've been tiding myself over with "It's only until I graduate, it's not THAT bad..."
Recently I discovered that new hires (often with absolutely no retail experience and in many cases, no experience at all) are being hired at minimum wage, which in my state was recently bumped up to 9.00. And now all new hires take an exam to become order writers, in case of some freak accident where every OTHER order taker is sick or out or on vacation and they HAVE to be able to do orders, which comes with a quarter raise.
So the new kids coming in who take this exam? They make MORE than me, with 7 years retail experience (5 of which are IN THIS EXACT STORE).
