Happy you're feeling better. Getting sick before the weekend (or, God forbid, a holiday) is always rough because you KNOW no one is going to do anything they aren't absolutely forced to do. As a relatively new reader who's read back through the archives, I'd love a Where Are They Now post. I'd list the commenters I miss, but I'm afraid something awful might have happened to them, and I'm not sure I want to know. Sad to hear about Furry's husband. I would like to do the RAOK thing but it would have to be small ones...low funds. I try to do little things whenever possible, but most especially this time of year. Someone always has it worse than me, no matter how bad off I think I am.

Also (sorry, I get on a soapbox about this election!), happy birthday, June's mom!

The bubble-headed bleach blonde who does our local news did a segment tonight about how many women wore pantsuits today. Then she said, "Maybe this means pantsuits are coming back!" Bitch. She's the type who probably voted for Trump because she thinks his wife is pretty. Personally, I wear pantsuits whenever I'm required to dress up because I look like a Popsicle in a dress. I was not aware that they ever went out. I intend to join you in the drinking tonight. I just hope this is the end of the nonsense.

I second what Not That Lisa said above. Thank you, June, for being brutally honest about your ups and downs. I don't know if I could be that publicly brave. Hell, I know I couldn't. It's one of the reasons I've been following this blog (I'm a newcomer but am reading through the archives) for the past six months or so. I came for the laughter and stayed for the sense of THESE ARE MY PEOPLE!! Pardon me ripping off your phrase. I am in an incredible financial mess right now; I'll spare you the details because so many others who have commented are in the same boat. I can't hit the tip jar now, but when I can (and I WILL get back to a better place!), you can bet that I will. I hope things get better for you and everyone else.
Thank you Joan, you may have saved someone today. Again, I wish you all the best!
So sorry for what you're going through. Please tell us what type of exam is needed! I was diagnosed with bladder cancer earlier this year and I'm constantly paranoid that it has spread or the doctors and tests are missing something. I've become obsessed with that area of my body! I wish you all the best in the future. Cancer sucks.
Stuffed lobster, prime rib, and chocolate in every form.
June, I'm so sorry. Been there, done that. I don't think there's anything anyone can say that will make you feel better, but I do agree with so many above who have mentioned the possibility of dementia. Alcohol and dementia are old drinking buddies, and they're a toxic combination. Please take care of yourself emotionally through this. Sometimes the only protection from this kind of thing is distance (however you can manage it).

Lisa, he adopted me about two months before I found Bye Bye Pie. I noticed his 'stache but never put the Kitler name to him until I started reading the archives. He's a giant pain in the butt...but so glad I found him. Love Lester's name!

Age: 56, state: Connecticut, sex: female, kids: none thank god, unless I count my gigantic, psychotic Kitler named Dammit Dave, sass: not really, more a twisted sense of humor, take no crap from anyone type (and have been called Bitch so many times I practically answer to the name), crunch: hell no, the only thing I can swallow in the morning is coffee and lots of it. I found this blog six months ago through Purple Clover when I realized the only articles I really laughed at were written by the same person. Am now addicted. Thanks to June and all the commenters for all the kindness and funny!

I agree with Lisa about Newfies. I babysat for one for the longest weekend of my life. He was a sweetheart, very affectionate, but thought of himself as a much smaller dog. The first morning, before I was awake enough to have a pulse, I took him outside--and he dragged my fat ass off the side of the deck because he saw a bird. Later that day, he climbed in my lap while I was reading, and the phone rang. By the time I was able to get out from under him, whoever was calling had hung up. Did anyone mention that they drool? It was a fun weekend. I love Steely Dan. Can I have him?
SO very sorry. There's few things that suck more than the hole left in your home when you lose a pet you love. Give it some time, and maybe you can visit her. It sounds like a perfect home for Lottie and her new people. Glad you and Ned have remained friends. He's a good guy to help out when you needed it so.

"I need a lover who won't drive me crazy. Someone to thrill me and then go away..." I thought those lines were written for me when that song came out 400 years ago. I still do. But I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.

First time commenter, long time reader. I've been the caregiver for two family members for years, giving up my old life completely. Over the past year, I lost 85 lbs. to get "healthy" because they depend on me...and then found out I have cancer. I'm trying to go through treatment and still take care of them. Some days I want to run and scream! Thank God for vodka and Xanax. (Not together...Xanax for breakfast and vodka for dinner.) Thanks June...sometimes your blog and the comments are my only badly needed laugh of the day.
