What about singular-to-plural noun changes that aren't as simple as adding an s? For example, I see PWHA and the like used more frequently as person-centered language becomes more common. If the first usage states "... a person with HIV/AIDS (PWHA)..." would it be acceptable to use it subsequently in the plural, such as "Study staff enrolled 216 PWHA into the trial" if I really mean people with HIV/AIDS?
