For a variety of reasons, I have a much harder time reading Times New Roman on a screen, particularly on a harsh, white background on a display that's lit using LEDs. I have blurred vision, especially around allergy season. I would never recommend Times New Roman for on-screen reading. Clean sans serif fonts are much easier to read on a monitor. Here's a good article on readability: Rello, L., & Baeza-Yates, R. (2013). Good fonts for dyslexia. In Proceedings of the 15th International ACM SIGACCESS Conference on Computers and Accessibility (p. 14). ACM.
