The steam reformer needs steam. Energy is needed to obtain steam. Wikipedia mentions an efficiency of 65 to 70% for the steam methane reformer (SMR) to convert methane into hydrogen. And it produces CO2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_reforming And then they have to liquify to fill in the hydrogen tank in the car. Another efficiency of 90%. http://greyfalcon.net/hydrogen4.png Then the fuel cell will convert hydrogen into electricity, efficient 50%. Then electricity to motive power. Rough total : 29% from methane to motive power. Ooops. Why not burn methane the old way in a combustion engine then, it would be just the same value. The movie is great but not convincing when you look at the figures.
