Wow, I can’t believe that it is already the final week of the semester. I feel like just yesterday we were meeting for the first class and getting our team and client assignments. It feels like in a blink of the eye we are here now. Reflecting back on the work my team has done, I am so proud of the project we have ultimately produced. In any situation are there things that I personally would have like to change, of course. However, that does not take away from the fact that through all the challenges, through all the ups,... When I tell people that I am only taking 5 courses this semester they are always shocked at how much I seemingly always have to do. That is because Capstone takes such an exorbitant amount of attention in order to produce a quality product. After reviewing the framework of our final presentation for the client it is apparent that our current product needs a lot of work. This past week was full of reformatting, adding, subtracting, moving, and ultimately tweaking our presentation. Of course this task seems as if it would only take a couple of hours, but in reality... As my time here in the MS Marketing program is coming to a close I have begun reflecting on just how much I have grown not only as a marketing professional, but as a person. Recently I personally have decided to pursue the MBA degree as well however the bond between students is not the same. I have met some amazing people in the MS program that I am proud to call friends, and professors that I look up to. As this capstone experience is coming to a close I recently spoke with one of those friends who I have... Continue reading

This week has been a clear case of what did you plan to happen? What actually happened? Why the difference? And what are you going to do about it next time? From scheduling, to leaving voicemails, to cancelations, to rescheduling, to more cancelations this week was very hectic. Our team could not catch a break from getting our second project review squeezed in all the way down to scheduling simple quick qualitative interviews with subjects. I just have to thank Mayuri for helping to maintain my sanity during another week of the Capstone lifestyle. She has really done a great... Continue reading

Having only a little over a month left in the Capstone experience is both exciting and terrifying. The idea of only having a little over 30 days left is terrifying because it feels like we have so much left to do on the project and so little time to do it in. Also, after putting so much time, effort, and sleepless nights into the project it will be pretty heartbreaking if the Brandery and the MS Marketing program do not like the work that we produce. However, on the flip side only having 30 days left is exciting. It is... Continue reading

If I have learned one thing about the Capstone experience it is that this project is a series of ups and downs. The key to survival is not getting to low when things appear to be falling apart and not get to high when things are going well. This is a case where an even demeanor is the key to sanity throughout this 15 week experience. Going into last week I was admittedly nervous about the future direction of our project, now this week I feel pretty good about where my team is at. One of the areas which made... Continue reading

We have such a clear deliverable but an unclear path to get there. I am beginning to understand why sometimes businesses completely miss the mark when they are looking to find out information about either their target market, or the reasons why their target market should care. For all of the academic projects we have done in the past it feels like we, as students, were able to hide behind the excuses of we could not find certain information or this is our assumption of what that information really is. However, with this Capstone project when you run into that... Continue reading

This semester feels like the days take forever to get through but the weeks pass in the blink of an eye. Don’t ask me how that is possible it just is. This past week it felt great to meet with Drew and get confirmation that we were in fact headed down the right path for our project. Although our team was confident that the steps we had taken so far were the correct ones, it is always reassuring to get confirmation. After our meeting with Drew we sent our Charter over to the Brandery for them to read and advise... Continue reading

Time in history is often referred to in two distinct terms, A.D. and B.C. However, I propose that we add a third as our society has since evolved to rely so heavily on the all so powerful internet. Let’s call this next era G.E. (Google Era) since Google has transformed the world arguably more than any other company in history. Living in the G.E. we are spoiled with information, unfortunately for the scope of this project, the all-knowing Google is unable to provide the true answers that I need. One would think that in the vast reach of Google that... Continue reading

This past week has been the most influential week in the project so far. We received a very clear expectation of what the client is looking for. For the purposes of the project this helped us begin to very clearly plan out what exactly we need to do to create a deliverable to the client that is not only what they are looking for, but also has allowed us to begin drafting a Charter. Hopefully by the end of this week we will have a Charter which will be well received and finalized. Also, our team has already begun doing... Continue reading

We had our initial client meeting with the Brandery this week and it was great to meet Tony and Emily, who will be our contacts throughout the project. After our initial meeting though, I still feel as if I have a million questions to ask. Their business is so interesting and one that I am so unfamiliar with. Undoubtedly, it has been a two week crash course on what exactly a seed accelerator is, and how their business model differs from other similar capital raising opportunities for small businesses. After doing initial and continuing research, I almost feel more confused... Continue reading

This week I found myself reminiscing on the good old days when the month of May signaled the end of the school year, which is then followed by a nice three month reprieve from the stresses of academia. These short flashbacks were serving only as a short breaks from the grind in which this summer semester is likely to entail. Between sending emails, Big Picture review, initial client meeting preparation, familiarizing myself with the Capstone Field Book, and by the way just a few other assignments for my other classes this summer, a little break from the action from time...
