I can tell you that he did indeed make it back to Yorkshire, even bought a few acres in adjoining Westmorland, but he never married. He died with his regiment at Blackburn in Lancashire at the age of 45. He was a younger brother of my 3x great-grandfather James ORTON of the Bombay Medical Service, EIC.
