Am I missing the fail?
Many companies use 'luggage' as a name for their neutral/brown color - perhaps Michael Kors most notably. Images
Shoe Box Fail
From an RHUer: Seen today at the Shoe Dept store in Midwest city, OK. Shoe color "luggage"
Retail vibes never quite leave us.
I still remember this exchange while I was shopping at a big box electronics store (that I don't work at) on my day off. I was waiting for my ride with my purchases next to me and playing on a display tablet to pass the time.
Big Box Custy: Excuse me, where are the CD Players?
Me: Sorry, but I don't work here. I don't know where they keep them.
Big Box Custy: Oh, you look so official.
My outfit? Black Tee, Jean Shorts, Flip flops, and sunglasses. I had my purse and phone out. Couldn't help but laugh. (Employees at the store have blue polos and khakis)
Sale Hell: I Don't Know What's On Sale Because I'm Not At Work
From: QuAvecLeCoeur For the context, I work at a large clothing retail chain. I'm usually there most evenings and weekends, and I interact with every customer who crosses my path because it's in my job description to do so. In reality, like most of you, I fucking hate the condescending treatm...
I googled.
Yeah, would have noped it the heck out of there in 2 seconds flat.
Australian Power Worker Leaves Note For Custy About Why He Was Unable to Read the Meter
From LunaSkyWitch
I worked in Lingerie for 2 years (I'm now in Ready-to-Wear) and the amount of bras ladies bring into the fitting room is insane.
One time, I went to check the fitting room and saw a pile that was so ridiculous I had to count.
32.
32 bras. All in a pile on the bench. All had to be hung neatly on one of those little plastic lingerie hangers. UGH.
Fitting Room Hell with a Crazy Piggy Shopper
From Retail Slut Max in Pennsylvania, posted to RHU, Aug, 2008: I work in ***** Outlet Retail Hell. Myself and a manager went out of our way to help this nasty bitch of a customer...got her shopping bags, suggested outfits for her, took all her crap to the fitting room, got her different si...
My store keeps a pretty good amount of stuff in our stockrooms, too.
Also, when we look it up to see if we have any more of it in stock, it tells us if it can be shipped from our fulfillment center as well as what stores have it. If I can't just place an order, I can try to call the other stores (which has like a 5% success rate because no one ever answers, but I digress). Unless the item is super old, I can usually get it to them.
Suppose I'm lucky that we have a good system.
From The Other Side Of "The Back"
From: Lakart I have a small problem relating to complaints about "the back," because during my brief stint in retail I worked at a store where we really did have a mystical back. Nine times out of ten, unless your desired object was on a horrendously good sale or was one of the new, very, ver...
My area is tourist-y and get this probably 4 times a week.
Sorry, people. Our computer will not let us override sales tax without the proper tax-exempt paperwork. Coming from a state without sales tax does not exempt you in our state.
Luckily, as long as they are in the US I can do a charge-send and have it sent ahead of them if they'd like. I've never had anyone go super-crusty on me about it.
Sales Tax? What Incomprehensible Sorcery Is This?!
From: Phenglei Kai Customer: “Well, I don’t understand. If the book says 14.99, then that’s the price you should charge me.” Me: “Ma’am, we ARE charging you 14.99. The STATE is charging you the sales tax, not us.” Customer: “Well, how do I make it so I don’t have to pay the tax?” Me: ” … You ...
I've never personally seen someone try to pull that at work.
However, I've picked up shifts in handbags and have had several people try to return Michael Kors bags that are clearly from the outlets. (His outlet bags have a different placard and lining).
Return Hell: Custy Attempts To Return Fake iPhone Showing a Samsung Display
From 01Aleph: IPhone knock off a customer brought me at work today. The things people drag in.... IPhone design(actually just a logo) and then run on Android. A Samsung UI. Seriously lol wow.
