Good grief, there are 25,000 live fans and 30,000 cardboard cutouts at the Super Bowl.
God, save this country!
Perhaps the NFL should have just aired two respective fans simulate the game on Madden Football and had a DJ spin records at halftime in lieu of The Weekend at Bernie's
The Truth Is Out There!
In the course of contemplating the Supreme Court ruling which dialed back the restrictions on California churches I was wondering where "science" came out on the George Floyd protests. SO: Protests did not effect on the level/rate of infection. Google data shows many other people were scared int...

Super Weekend!
The minimum wage boost to $15/hour seems dead for now. But mostly dead is partly alive, so don't turn your back on this one. Bad ideas that poll well are a cornerstone of our political system.
I don’t recognize each poster’s stamp or whatever it’s proper label is (except Iggy’s), but am I the only one that thought the following lead-in “So, a cleaning lady is on her way to do a deep scrub...” was from Granma Stephanie and was one of her jokes?
I guess I was at least 1/2 right or right 1/2 of the time.
Has Durham’s picture surfaced on a milk carton yet?
Is There A Doctor In The House?
I suppose there is other news but long time commenter DrJ has passed away. His last comment is oddly on-topic: Fianl thoght for this evening: Glücklich ist, wer vergisst, was doch nicht zu ändern ist.

One last post and will return to my lurking.
Recently, we saw the movie “News of the World” which I found enjoyable.
In this movie, during post civil war days, the lead character is an educated man who travels from town to town to read the news to the willing public. Of course, he selects the news he finds may be of interest to the listeners. The infamous actor and millionth plus survivor, Tom Hanks is the lead.
Interesting or perhaps ironic that with the recent purging of certain social media news sites and the tuning out of traditional news sources, this maybe the only way some of us get the news.
But then again, we may be forced to the readings via the point of a gun to hear the news not of one’s choosing.
To end, viewing the Saints game to see if Drew Brees changed the name on the back of his helmet to Ashli Babbit
Lots Going On
Its a beautiful day outside.
“Spengler tries to straddle the fence and ends up as most such do; with a funny look on his face and barbed wire in his nutsack.

Heh, Iggy, as so often your words have a way to provide “some Kodak” to borrow a line from A River runs though it.
Please write a book! There are enough of us to make you a rich man, er maybe a hundredaire.
Additionally, 1 I’d Turley = jamoke: As not a word I have used (to the best of my knowledge), I turned to DuckDuckGo.
The first returned posting from Wordnik: coffee; stupid person, fool; and penis.
I guess in this instance they all work.

I think MM’s 9:39 photo means: Be very, very quiet, we’re hunting wabbits er wats!
What About Ivanka?
I am very intrigued by the appearance and reception of Ivanka Trump at a campaign appearance in Georgia. This might be a Big Deal for the Jan 2021 Senate run-offs and a harbinger of "Trump: The Next Generation" in 2024.
Finally caught up to the end of the thread. Actually, a couple. Felt like the brave at the end of a 10 mile long Indian run. Or is that now a “team” run?
All I wanted to say before day is ended:
Happy birthday, Clarice!
Katie, Barr The Election!
AG Barr was a bit of a wet blanket for the election conspiracists out there. Disputing Trump, Barr says no widespread election fraud Barr wants Sidney Powell to get crackin': Barr didn’t name Powell specifically but said: “There’s been one assertion that would be systemic fraud and that would be...
Today’s references to LBJ & 1964, lead directly to what I have been pondering recently. Trump should finish what he started and immediately declassify all remaining unreleased JFK assassination papers with no redactions.
IMO, today’s election coup involves corrupt government agencies along with democrats of various forms and their high ranking supporters.
Similar to today, I believe like forces were in play and involved in the assassination.
Demonstrate to the American people that this level of corruption dates back more than 50 years ago to a time of perceived innocence.
Prove to unassuming voters on the other side that their own beloved leader could be brought down at the hands of people they trusted or who they were told/brainwashed to trust. Convince them that something still remains rotten in Denmark.
There a thousands of sleuths that will scour, digest and disseminate their findings as expeditiously as possible.
I’m sure the Kraken won’t mind if Godzilla joins the fight.
Affidavit From The North Country
Powerline looks at an affidavit filed as part of the Trump vote fraud case. The lede is deeply buried, but patient readers eventually get a shock - the analysis demonstrates vote fraud by showing that total votes exceeded registered voters and area population. Unfortunately, to reach that conclu...
Last I checked, Trump is still president. As such, the president should continue to do his work for the American people, govern and fulfill campaign promises.
Foremost, start by advising Fauxi and Bric Brac, their services are no longer needed. As a result of this new direction and recognizing that the previous task force was not as successful as hoped for, proclaim the signing of an EO. This order would recognize and be based on the success of the Swedish government and the science and guidance of the Great Barrington Declaration. It’s issuance would be to protect the health and economic security of the citizens and businesses. As such state, local and municipal governments and businesses would be prohibited from enacting and enforcing impositions of shutdowns, limited occupancy, social distancing, mask mandates, etc. Non compliance will be met with significant fines. Any restrictions will only be issued by the order of the federal government.
As Trump is this so called dictator, he won’t be doing anything out of the ordinary.
If this liberal wet dream becomes a reality, Lid Bid-en will have 47 years of experience to deal with the unrest from the prospering open businesses and free citizens when he attempts to impose his draconian mandates.
Just might light that civil war fire.
But then again, aren’t EOs the same as laws now!
Interesting 2016 Vibe Developing
The Biden Blowout seems to be off the menu. The NY Times is NOT doing their National Needle, which freaked out Democrats in 2016 as it swung inexorably from a 90% chance for Hillary to a 100% chance for Trump. This year there are too many problems due to huge absentee voting. However, they have ...
Jane,
Very glad your surgery went well, the surgeries are over and you are not relegated to hours of laying face down.
Wishing you the best results.
Try not to lose the little green wrist band.
Regarding a DNA test: I’ve never had one, but pretty certain it would show that I am 1/2 something and 1/2 something else.
Texas A Toss-Up?
The Cook Political Report re-rates Texas as a toss-up and I may throw up. For reassurance, the betting site Predictit.org still has Trump at about 70% to carry it. Meanwhile, in the upper Midwest, Wisconsin is a disaster for Trump.
Hey Chuckie and dems,
It is time you learn to just Grin and Barrett!
Running - How Does It Work?
Daniel Jones of the Football Giants delivered an instant NFL classic - an 80 yard untouched run with the endzone 90 yards away. But everybody wants to get into the act! In an absolutely wild ending to a Major League game (but common in Little League!) the Dodgers mishandle the ball like a hot po...

My unified telephone/cable/internet service is mostly dead (although party alive.) But I'm sure things are happening!
In keeping with the Shakespeare banter and the PowerlineBlog using it as a verb, I’ll admit in my participation in various Zoom meetings, I have never, during such meetings, contemplated the famous bard’s proposition: Toobin or not Toobin, that is the question!

From Tom R.:”File this under unforeseen impacts from COVID 19 social distancing requirements.
Today in Tuscaloosa the cover charge to get into bars for the Bama/Georgia game is $100-$150 dollars. It’s usually no more than $20 on game days.”
Nah, Someone’s gotta cover the expensive costs of those Rona tests to get Coach Saban on the field.
Didn’t he take like 50 of them?

Saturday Action!
I did catch a bit of the Thursday town halls after the Cheatin' 'Stros walked it off against my newly adopted Rays. I tuned in to Biden to see if I could fall asleep before he did but we both made it to the end! He handled the Stephanopolous softballs pretty well. There was never a chance Biden ...
I echo bubarooni’s 4:52 remarks: “It seems like a lot of personal things have happened with peeps on this blog the last two weeks. Best wishes to you all especially MM!”
I’ve been contemplating getting the lamb’s blood for the lintel.
I don’t know who started that on that night way back when, but it was priceless.
MM, I for now will refer to this place as JOMmm or jomMM as the guitar man might phrase.
This place is truly a newsroom, a chat room, a learning room, and an entertainment room. I almost feel should pay for admission. Nah, not really.
Glad I found it as you folks really make it a joy to lurk.

Day Two of the Senate Show!
Lyle,
HA! I’m honored, I’ll await to receive my major award at the JOM Trump victory party. Perhaps we can all wear our virus masks then use them to toast our victory marshmallows.
RBG Delivers An RPG To The Election
I am contemplating the RBG news from my window ledge. Hey, its first floor, so its really only the shrubs we need to worry about. Ross Douthat explains why the Republicans are likely to just go for it and seat a third Trump judge. (He does not say "Effin' go for it!", but he might have!). His g...
Lyle,
September 30 10am EDT -
Following a debate cut short the night before due to a coughing fit, the Biden Campaign announces a permanent lid on Joe in the leading role due to health reasons.
Then taking the stage, Dr. Jill Biden announces that in recognition of the precedent set by the Biden’s good friends Senator Mel and his wife Senator Jean Carnahan, Dr. Jill will continue her husband’s campaign as the democrat candidate for president. As most ballots were prepared listing only J. Biden as the candidate, the campaign anticipates no voter casting confusion.
ZZ Top’s hit “Legs” becomes the official campaign theme song.
Joe, though technically not dead, becomes the 200,000,001st person not to have died due to the virus from China.

Plenty Of Blame To Go Around
Ross Douthat ruminates on how much blame for the COVID debacle should be shouldered by Trump. He mentions the February testing debacle at the CDC and the slow-walking of Emergency Use Authorizations by the FDA and links to a ProPublica piece. The NY Times and the WaPo had similar coverage and a ...

Things I wouldn’t know without the assistance of JOM and curiosity: Affect and Effect - two commonly confused homophones.

I love this university but if I knew when I was in high school that I'd be staying in my room all day, I would've never gone to any college.”
“This is a horrible way to go to college. [Daughter] was in tears last night about the prospect of the mandatory immediate quarantine while waiting for the test, as she has heard from others that it was taking 27+ hours to get the tests back on the slow days. She is worried that she might be an asymptomatic case.
What we are doing to this generation of kids is awful ... common sense has been missing from this debate for months.”

Joe The Plumber Has Arrived!
Biden says this election is a battle for the soul of America. Trump's response is that it is a battle for the streets of America. The NY Times goes to Wisconsin and finds Joe the Plumber 2020 in the person of John Geraghty, a 41 year old ex-Marine who is, hmm, politically detached but troubled b...
