Hi Chelsea, could I please ask you for some clarifications? In your reply to Olivia you indicated her first suggested citation was correct: Chatman (1999) said blah blah blah (p.3). Does that mean the second suggested format is incorrect: Chatman (1999, p.3) said blah blah blah? Additionally, above in your post you also provided the following example, Chamberin (2014, para. 1) stated that people planning for retirement need more than just money—they also “need to stockpile their emotional reserves” to ensure they have adequate support from family and friends. Is the inclusion of the paragraph number with the date permissible? I was always under the impression that page/paragraph references could not stand alone with the date and the correct format was rather, Chamberin (2014) stated that people planning for retirement need more than just money—they also “need to stockpile their emotional reserves” to ensure they have adequate support from family and friends (para. 1) OR author, date, and page/paragraph as a parenthetical citation. However, I wasn't sure if it made a difference (para. v. p.) since your example fell under a different heading, How to Cite Material Without Page Numbers. Thank you!

Hello, could you please clarify why there is a dash before the alpha letter after the year? Is it because it is n.d.? I'm assuming if you have an actual year, the letter immediately follows as per Section 6.25 of the APA 6th edition, bottom of page 182, "Place lowercase letters - a, b, c, and so forth-immediately after the year, within the parentheses"? Thank you!
