To date in my career, I have largely worked on consumer-packaged brands. Many were brands that I used on a regular basis (Pampers, Clorox, Hershey’s) or they were brands that I knew of, and working on the brand made me a smarter consumer (Fiberglass insulation). A piece of feedback that I heard somewhat frequently was that I needed to be careful to not place my experiences as that of our target. This week opened my eyes to three key learnings: Learning is everywhere This past weekend, I went to in Branston Kentucky (Lake Cumberland), to relax and “vacation”. I took schoolwork with me, but anticipated work focused on planning, organizing, summarizing, etc. The waiter who served us at dinner on Saturday evening walked to our table and had a handlebar mustache and slight beard. What is that luck? I asked my partner “Do you think I can interview him?” “Ask if he’s willing to talk to you, the worst that can happen is he says no”. I debated this question through... I am completing Week one of my Capstone today. The week has been rough, between extra work at "work", a blast-class, and everything to be done at home, I am feeling more than a bit overwhelmed. Right now, I am questioning my belief that I can finish my Capstone in 15 weeks (13 weeks remaining). In addition to feeling overwhelmed, I had to "meet my client" this week.
