So this capstone experience will definitely be one to remember. For all the upcoming capstone student's, I have 4 points of advice I'd like to pass along. First, really be engaged with your project and have fun with it. Almost make it your own. It's a process but when you enjoy what you're working on, it'll be a lot easier to look for ways to help your client. Secondly, be ready to COMMUNICATE. Final weeks coming up for this capstone and this project has been a rollercoaster to say the least. What I've learned most throughout this process is being able to adapt to change. Change is inevitable and being able to adapt and think critically as the market moves will help me a lot in my career. Week 10 has arrived and we are officially in the home stretch of this capstone program. All I can say is that I am happy with where we are at but I know we have a lot more to go to get everything wrapped up and put together to complete this brand. This week has been a progressive week. Since our project took a slight bit of a turn we've gotten our brands identity in place and now on the process of developing our Brand Book and putting our presentation together. We've talked with our client and gotten a better understanding of what the brand should look like. We've looked out into the market to see the mission statements/ brand promises our competitors are making and have created one of our one. Week 8 is down and this week consisted of some change and putting ideas together. A couple weeks ago, after our initial project review, Drew gave us a solid recommendation on our project and introduced one of his courses on Branding. For me, this week was about reviewing this course and understanding how the fundamentals are set in place to develop a brand. Week 7! When I initially heard that time flies, I maybe thought that people were exaggerating but seeing it first hand makes a whole difference. Our project took a slight turn from marketing a product to developing a brand for the company. Our client is a startup so collectively we believe creating a solid brand for our client will be best for long term success and positioning in the market. This week was a great week. Our project review went smoothly. Professor Boyd has helped guide our project and gave us some direction to go moving forward. Week five is completed. This week has been a productive one. I really enjoyed class on Monday, it sharpened my focus on the scope of the project and gave me new perspectives on how to approach this process. We've gone through our core competency and have a solid understanding of the benefits, assets and how we are able to deliver value to our customers. I believe we're on our way. This week has been a smooth week. My client and I have done some general surveys on the product and potential brand logos. The feedback we've received is positive and specific comments have helped shaped our actions moving forward. Joey and I are in the phases of establishing our core competencies and what our client has to offer as a business as well as the competitive matrix to understand our competition and what the company is up against. As I look over our charter I am getting anxious about the project. Once I realized the depth of our deliverables and timeline things began to feel real. Joey and I have worked well together and our client is very helpful with communication so things have been going smoothly so far. Just started to get into the scope of the project overall and saw a couple windows of opportunity so I'm excited to get things going. Wow! We definitely have our work cut out for us with this semester's capstone. We made some solid progress with coming up with an outline of deliverables and using the Competitive Differentiation template to give us the scope of the project. Prior to reviewing the project I definitely underestimated the workload. I look forward to the challenge and believe we are positioned to succeed as long as we stick to our schedule. I'm really excited to get this capstone going! Our MS Marketing program has been an enlightening experience thus far and I look forward to this opportunity to compile everything we've learned into this final go round.
