MM 5:48 Clarice had posited but one explanation for the DoJ's pronouncement about McCabe; I suggested another that is just as valid and mine happens to be supported by all visible actions on the ground and hers, while it might be true, would require a first ever for this administration. But thanks for making it all about a loyalty test for the cheerleading squad. Happy to know you have no doubt at all about Barr.
Clarice "I can't see any other reason for the DoJ to release this now..." Unless the DoJ still hates Trump and everything MAGA and knows letting McCabe walk makes Trump, look like buffoon? Barr who? The is no evidence to the contrary.
Jack Straw understands that the headline "70 fired from NSC" was misleading, right? It was not an "event" but a process over time and they were not fired, they just went back to the agencies whence they came when they were borrowed by the NSC in the first place.

via Jim "or to approve of anyone else doing so..." Joke, right? Try to disapprove in any social setting and see how many invitations are withheld in the future.
Porch beat me to this precise point: "Yes, it is. 55 million abortions since Roe - actually probably closer to 60 million now." ...and since Roe was 1972, those first aborted babies could be grandparents by now so the actual "souls lost" is much higher than even 60M. ...and since wide support for "abortion rights" is hard to coexist with belief in God and other family values, how much else was lost because of that since 1972?
The "warning" is sufficiently noted when one marvels that in spite of outrageously good numbers and "things" which the Left said never could be again, and in spite of the flatout absence of anything provably "bad" that he has in fact done, Trump hovers at or below 50% approval. Not that much higher than the other side.
Me too, Ext. Femall.
Henry "SCOOP: @LindseyGrahamSC tells CBS News that he plans to deliver his FISA witness list to DOJ as early as this week." Only in the heads of politicians is that called a "scoop". To me it ain't even news.
Julie Kelley "By portraying themselves as victims of a vengeful president, the perpetrators will insist any prosecution is political payback rather than long-delayed justice for what they’ve done to the president and to the country." Hmmm. Wonder where and in which dimension that was predicted 3 years ago?
Clarice "Very important legal development on the fake political charity foundations..." Wake me up in #2weeks.

Wray today: “The failures highlighted in the inspector general report are unacceptable, period. And they cannot be repeated,” Wray testified before the House Judiciary Committee. “I have already ordered more than 40 corrective actions to our FISA policies and procedures,” Wray continued, adding that he has “gone above and beyond” in outlining what “should be changed” and “can be changed” and can provide “accountability,” “rigor” and “discipline.” “I do not think anyone has carte blanche to bypass rules, and I intend to make it painfully clear that is unacceptable at the FBI today," he added." Allow me to beat James to the obvious soapbox: Note he offers NOTHING to make amends to Carter Paige for the harm done to him by his FBI, nor to punish the offenders, nor does he offer to withdraw ALL or even ANY of the poisonous fruit the Feds got from their crimes. I told you about that guy when he was nominated and he has never let me down.

Hard to dispute a word Codevilla wrote. The enemy (harsh word intended to label all those who, knowingly or unknowingly, stand in the way of restoring our Constitutional Republic) we face is not just "the other side" but our friends and family who beg with wringing hands "can't we all just get along?" THAT will only occur when one side or the other achieves total victory. So. No.

Mel "document requirements at the discretion of the handling agent. High odds you didn't bring the one they'll accept that day." Way back when I was a pup, I often carried my plans down to the county to get building permits. The masses of supplicants would be corralled on one side of the counter, and the "plans examiners" worked at desks on the other side. I came to think the examiners had bells on their desks and whichever examiner could "ding" his rejection the fastest would win something at the end of the day.

Dave "35 year old age requirements" Since the average life expectancy in 1789 was 36, perhaps that figure should have been "adjusted for inflation" too?

From GUS on the other thread: "if COMRADE BERNIE wins,..." Might as well just end it right there. Nothing anyone could add to the second half of the sentence could save us after that.

Steph "but the aggressive stance the Dems take in always making it a first order "issue." Word. And not just gayness. From watching TV it seems any family that does not mix eight or ten different races does not qualify as a family. The only good I have noticed from that trend is "Dumb White Men" are now joined by "Dumb Black Men" in the commercials.

TC, and since the Impeachment has shown that Trump cannot even pursue criminal investigations in the Ukraine pursuant to a prosecution treaty with that country because Biden is Trump's "opponent", just think how many Clinton Crime Family targets are jumping for joy anticipating her running - or even hinting at it - to save them all too. She could buy the election with all the K Street legal fees saved, not even counting any clawbacks that might have been warranted. Inactions have consequences.

Sorry to be right again. NBC DC opened the 6pm news with one sentence about the Senate rejecting witnesses, then went straight to displays of phrases from both Murkowski and Alexander both creating the clear impression they wished they could vote the other way. But for intense pressure by thugs supporting Trump... You get the picture.

A-bob "There’s a small Hawaiian independence movement. We should give it our support." Easy peasy. Try "Hey, did you hear that Trump is opposed to independence for Hawaii? Can you believe that?". Boom. You start right there with 47% in your camp.

And never overlook that one such change from that era was to change the system of paying for the Federal Government by asking the states to chip in (talk about empowering the state legislature and ensuring great care in their appointments to the Senate!) to the right of the Feds to tax the income and wealth of individual state citizens directly, ignoring whatever the state legislatures might think. Now, you never will see you Senator except on TV, and you can't complain to your state rep cause he didn't appoint him.

JMH, you actually make both my points for me. The idea is/was that each state legislature should focus 99% of its work on the needs of that very state (and those people would sit beside us in church and the movies...). It follows that such a body would send to DC two senators who would assist the State Legislature in exactly that: serving his state. By making it just a beauty contest of popular votes, it attracts players who want to go to DC for the personal power and, hope-hope, ascendancy on the national stage. And once ensconced there, they can stay forever, whatever happens to the old state. My other point is that one reason you and we all pay zero attention to our state legislatures is that after 100 years of this, all the real power to help and hurt state citizens IS in DC. Were it still in the State Capital, you should be willing to make your state legislator exercise parochial control over those they sent to DC. The Founders wanted two chambers, but they sure as hell did not want a House of Lords of members who were born into it. Mainly my point is made by observing that we made a few changes to shift power away from Main Street (We the People live and work on Main Street) up to DC, and we are far worse off for having done that.
