Got an election coming up. Henry. Get them sheep all trained up.
Said another way, Dave: You only own those rights that you can enforce.
Mel "It is a tulip bulb..." Musical Chairs is a fun party game until the music stops.

Mel, that is "BREAKING" news only to those who have been asleep since Nov 2020. To you, me, and everybody else, it is "Welcome to the Party" news.
Narc, if you use a Neutron Bomb, do DC first while I am on Nantucket, then give me a few days to get back to DC then do the same here. While you are at it, do Boston too since that is ground zero for the "SO much smarter than everybody else" crowd.
Tru dat, Mel. Should of said "Delta and sons of delta all the way to Omega."
YES I know that my Nantucket summer crowd is not the real world...but experience over almost 40 summers convinces me that every bad leftist thought that catches on here, like stage 4 cancer, spreads across the land and soon infects the entire country. So fair warning people: Nantucket is moving in the blink of an eye from "almost normal" in June 2021 to full blown mid 2020 pandemic panic, lockdown, and in several places outright closure for the rest of the year...all because of Delta and bad bad people not being vaccinated. The proximity to the 2022 midterms is laughably obvious.
It is true, though, that in the mid 1800's something like 150,000,000 (or was it 200?) acres of government lands were given to those who promised to build railroads. That much land and the treasures under it and growing upon it became the foundation of some of the biblical wealth of the gilded age masters.
"Just how big can the market for news subscriptions become?" As big as the market for expired sushi from 7-11?

I meant "personal time and treasure"

Matt "As to the teacher's unions and admins, when do we just say phooey, you're fired?" I pay the tuitions for my three grandchildren and have offered more than once to just let them hire a fulltime private teacher instead. That is where this is all headed. The public schools have sunk from "little value" to downright dangerous (mentally and physically), and, sad to say since I have supported them with money and treasure for decades, I would be hard pressed to find an Unwoke private school worth the risk either.

They just invent speed bumps so the deplorables think that perhaps hope exists. #2weeks.

Iggy, the Top Brass and most of those who work for them would starve to death if they had to live on what actual value they could produce. And the gene pool would be better off if they did.

Dave, remember they grabbed the FBI files before they got to the Pentagon.

Matt "Obama politicized the military irredeemably." All Obama did in that regard was to dial up to eleventy what started with Bill & Hilary. Ditto the FBI and CIA and IRS and the rest of the alphabet.

RSE "I have noticed my children are matter of fact about it, but people my age or older find stigma attached and do not want to talk about it." I think that supports my notion of Cycles (Ages). Almost all of Human History involved sudden death and situations approaching that. In recent history, WWI-Depression-WWII ended that phase for the US such that, like you RSE, I think I can remember every "unexpected" death that intruded on my Ossie & Harriet 50's and 60's growing up. These days? Think cities and drugs and get back to me...

Jack "And I wonder when McGuire will expect us to show our graduation certificate before we can post again:?" Judging by how many days it now takes to collect 1 or 200 posts when a few months ago JOM would have 1,000 or more in a few days, that question might be a tree falling in a forest with nobody there to hear.

Ig "But somebody still has to pay that $30 trillion [and counting] back." Only if the USA comes out the other end as a "Going Concern". THAT is not a given.

Jane, I made my girls listen to it in the car on the long drives to and from Nantucket. Atlas Shrugged one summer and Fountainhead the next. Not just for the politics, but for the leading roles for two very strong women. YL did not become YL by chance. :-)

I keep thinking back to college when I got nuthin but abuse for being a fan of Atlas Shrugged. But at least in the 60's, I was allowed to be a fan "out loud". We've come a long way, Baby.

"30 gallons are in the ground" And the sooner that is dug out and remediated, the cheaper that will be before it spreads into groundwater. The property has zero value until that is fixed. Insurance Companies and Lawyers ASAP. The Installer's insurance is the first stop.
