All those headlines... Tell me again why Trump should not ask foreign governments to investigate skulduggery IN THEIR COUNTRIES by US citizens like Biden and his son? What is wrong with that? Obama asked foreign governments to spy on US citizens INSIDE the USA and then to send the reports in time to thrown an election. Femall and especially the WSJ.

Don't forget that our Military, great as it is, cannot drive ships without crashing into tramp steamers, get gazillion dollar aircraft carries to work so they can deploy, or fly many of our planes because they lack spare parts. And our Army has to lower the bar to accept recruits we would not have taken in the past. But they CAN promote a bunch of lefties to flag rank. There is not one agency of the government that performs up to normal commercial standards. And as a group, they make considerably more than their private sector counterparts. #2 Weeks.

Total Wine is owned by my Potomac neighbor, David Trone and his brother. David Trone wants to be king of Maryland and then the WH, and, as you can imagine, is a flaming liberal. Worst thing is, he has so much money that every time he runs for office (he has some seat in Annapolis now) his commercials run non stop and make Henry's pal Tom Steyer look reasonable and middle of the road. Gag me.

Problem, Jack, is that "Investors" are no longer what you and I grew up with, and Boards no longer worry about the little old ladies at the Shareholders' Meetings. Too many of the shares are now controlled by people who are not in it for the long term success of the underlying business.

Jack "The reason 7% of CEO's support Warren tells me they think she can be bought off." Actually, given the direction a lot of boards are going and all the B'Schools and Law Schools, I would suspect 7% of CEOs actually support Warren because they also support Socialism. Not kidding.

DrJ, in my business we feel your pain dealing with the feds. First is the timing and detail and approval hassles before they write a check you need badly that you mention. Worse, in commercial real estate is the simple fact that the feds can sign a twenty year lease but it always contains a clause that allows them to cancel at any time if Congress does or does not do something in the annual appropriations. Try 'splaining THAT to you Permanent Mortgage Holder. Because of that, Landlords holding all the cards will very often not lease to the feds at all since the "price" of taking their money is too high. In other times of course, we will kill to lease to them.

Looking at the mess the Parliamentary System is making in Israel and the UK makes you really happy that our Constitutional Republic so cleanly passes the torch from one elected official to the next, doesn't it?

Can't argue with that, Iggy. Requires good leadership to strike the right balance and the right timing. Otherwise we will run out of KY Jelly.

Iggy, I see you used your 11:42 to make some valid points, springing off my one line about the freeloading world. Certainly I appreciate all the points you made about the long term threat from Iran. Who doesn't? MY point was twofold. WE have enough oil for our needs and have plenty more where that came from. So going to war, as urged by some leaders here and abroad, or even using extreme sanctions going it alone, to protect the oil flowing to the rest of the world is not immediately about us (I am ignoring the fact that oil pricing is fungible like money so I can make my point). Your appeal to "protecting my neighbor so I can protect myself" will encourage that neighbor to never do his share and always let you spend your money to protect him. And in doing that, he hurts us too. If my point were made clearly and loudly, perhaps US citizens would appreciate how important Trump's move - successfully in short order - to become energy independent was so brilliant on his part and thus blocking his every effort in that regard is against our own self interest. Secondly, if the rest of the freeloading world stopped counting on our expenditure of ~5% of our huge GDP building and fielding a military so that they can benefit from ours while spending ~1-2% of their own, then perhaps they might spend more of their own money helping us protect THEM, and thus they might spend less of their money on stupid socialist undertakings which then ripple through our elites to pollute our own thing. "We need to be more like XYZ..."

Re the latest flap slamming Trump: Henry, I see that that "leak" was from an unnamed Intel person reporting what Trump said to an unnamed foreign leader. One problem I have had is the "dumbing down" of our demand for justice against the Coup Gang Conspirators such that many will be satisfied if McCabe goes down for an unpaid parking ticket, and, wow, if Comey gets nailed for being late on a tax return...all will be OK. The CIA and NSA and all the other 92 intel agencies all played a key part in the coup, and in the resulting theft of Trump's POTUShood even while he holds the title. This was not just "some group within the FBI".

A-Bob. As I posted before. Last year the US imported 4M barrels per day from the ME. That same year we EXPORTED 9M barrels per day to other countries. And our production could increase way more if we want it to. And this is OUR problem to solve for the rest of the freeloading world?

I regret my votes for Romney, McCain and Dole. Not real happy now about my votes for either Bush either since, looking back, every one of them sold us into a Uniparty, Globalist, Anti-Constitutional dream from which it is going to be difficult to withdraw, even assuming the people want to. Looking back, RR's "...it (Freedom) is not passed down to us in our DNA" speech was the last time I am sure a POTUS grasped the problems.

Cap'n "I regard the UK less fondly than others here. I've been there and it's nice but ultimately they're not us." Like them or not, doesn't matter. The fact is they had a thousand year history as an independent nation/empire and have all but lost it in the blink of an eye. Sure. We have guns and they are disarmed as a population, but on the larger scale, the US has more military might than the rest of the world combined and yet we cannot or will not use it to change the arc of history and so it remains to be seen if our semi armed population, which used to scare foreign would be invaders, will actually get used to restore our constitutional system of self governance.
Jack, the problem in both our countries is that those who would destroy us attained their ~50% while the patriots were busy with other things. And in both countries more voters (legal, illegal and stolen) are joining the destroyers than are joining the Patriots. In the past good ideas could swing the balance, but that requires a population that can assimilate facts and then apply logic and judgement to them.
If the citizens of the UK are not allowed to untangle themselves from the lemmings of the EU, that will be as fatal to that formerly sovereign country as our electing ANY Democrat currently running against Trump.
Jim, we live in a Look Squirrel Era. You don't expect us to keep an eye on some issue from last week do you???
