Personally, I find great encouragement from Jesus's sermon on the mount in Matthew 5. The first three beatitudes seem to touch upon a uniquely human experiences. Aren't we all, at times, poor in spirit, mourning, or meek? Jesus tells us in those first three examples, that we're blessed when we're in that state - we're blessed and, even though we feel that way, we're still on track for the Kingdom of God! "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." Ps 34:18
