Good morning everyone, and an even better morning as this is our last blog post of the semester! Twelve weeks of blog posts later, and I am amazed to look back and reflect on how far my reflections have come - and I bet I am not alone! It's fascinating to see where I imagined this project would go when we began week one, and where it is actually wrapping up within the next 1-2 weeks. It's all rooted back in a reflection I had a few weeks ago, about being flexible but also maintaining a big picture vision for... Continue reading

Hello, classmates! I hope everyone is having a great weekend and is gearing up for the last four weeks of a crazy, fast-paced semester. I think I've talked about how quickly this semester is flying by in every blog post I've shared thus far, but here we still are... and the class is still flying back faster than expected. This past week marked a clear shift in our vision and focus for the rest of the semester, transitioning from deep in information gathering and reporting to finalizing our work into a final presentation and report. Katie and I were able... Continue reading

Getting down to the wire this week! With a week post-Spring Break under our belts, Katie and I have been diligently working on ensuring that we deliver on our final deliverables before wrapping up our project via the final presentation and report. This week, we will be meeting with our clients Laurie and Zach for a bit of a delayed Project Review #2, as well as receiving feedback from Dianne on how we can improve and sure up this project in a way that exceeds both the assignment for this class and our clients' expectations. For the DAAP Fashion Show,... Continue reading

Hello, fellow MS-Marketing students! …or should I say "hola!" After an intense first half of the semester, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Nicaragua to work on a water sanitation project in a local community there. While the experience was a great opportunity to disconnect from home, it was surely a wake-up call to return home and realize that we only have a few weeks let in the semester! While Katie and I were both completely disconnected from internet for the past week, our momentum from the previous week is kickstarting us on a huge path of progress... Continue reading

Hi, everyone! With eight blog posts and nine weeks of developments on this Capstone engagement in the books, I'm certainly looking forward to taking a bit of a break away from classes! I'll be in Nicaragua for the week - where is everyone else going? Related to our project, Katie and I have made significant strides in wrapping up much of our tactical execution planning for the DAAP Fashion Show. We had the awesome opportunity to connect with current DAAP Senior Capstone Fashion Design students, learning more about their inspired work and how they plan to encapsulate five years of... Hello, classmates! It is difficult to believe that we are already on week eight of this course, and week 7 of our blog post! I know we all keep saying it (and will likely continue to say it), but this semester is truly flying by - and the time left to deliver on our capstones is as well! With this challenge in mind, Katie and I have been diligent in wrapping up a final deliverable for our DAAP Fashion Show Project - a comprehensive social media calendar. Using the principles and communications objectives that we aligned on with our client... Continue reading

Hello everyone! I feel like I say this every week, but it is truly hard to believe how quickly time is flying this semester -- both with this Capstone projects and all of our other courses, too. This week was highly productive for many reasons, and while this reflection post comes a bit early, there are quite a few things to reflect upon in just a few short days this week. Katie and I had the opportunity share out our project with both our clients (Zach, Laurie, and Dianne) and Dianne in a separate one-on-one. While I was admittedly a... Continue reading

Good evening, and hope everyone had a great weekend! I am not sure about you, but I can safely say that I can't believe that six weeks of classes has already flown by. Katie and I are excited to be sharing out our first project review with our clients Dianne, Laurie, and Zach tomorrow, and following up with a Project Review with Dianne the following day. We have been working diligently to progress towards our deliverables set forth for the first review, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous for our first set of... Continue reading

Can you believe five weeks have already passed this semester? Over the past week, we've been able to accomplish a few project management goals and progress towards various deliverables through different immersions and activities. I conducted a few observations, sitting in on both DAAP and Lindner college close-up sessions to better understand how prospective students (one of the highly valuable participants in our projects) learn about our university. Better understanding the brand promises of both colleges will allow us to recommend whether the Business of Fashion "fits" in either college's current value proposition. Use your toolkit. Capstone is truly the... Continue reading

Happy Monday, everyone! As I reflect on this week's progress on capstone, I can say that I am a little anxious to get things moving. With the Project Review just a few weeks out, I hope to continually keep moving to make strides on deliverables, despite not having any tight timelines. As a quick update, this past week both Katie and I spent time working on a smaller deliverable for our client - recommendations on the tactical execution for a DAAP Fashion Show Mailer. While it was fun to provide recommendations and look at inspiration from best in-class examples, it... Continue reading

Good morning everyone! As a quick review, I am working with Katie Chung on a Business/DAAP Fashion Collaboration focusing on the DAAP Fashion Show and Business of Fashion academic track. Katie and I were able to meet with our amazing, high-energy clients Laurie and Zach to more clearly define our capstone outcomes. As mentioned in my previous post, I am all about the executional stage, and taking challenges from high-level vision into concrete deliverables is a pivotal turning point in most projects for me. It was affirming to meet with our client and align on expected deliverables, seeing that we... Continue reading

Hello everyone! Wow, it is only the second week of classes and I can already safe that the Capstone course has been a whirlwind. As a bit of a background, Katie Chung and I have the incredible opportunity to work on a DAAP Fashion/Business collaboration manifesting itself into two key projects: the strategic exploration of a Business of Fashion academic path, and the tactical execution of the DAAP Fashion Show. While we both have been students at UC for the past five years, I think I speak for both of us when we say we had no idea how much... Continue reading
