Hello, Our in-class meeting this week was insightful. As we narrated our pitch statement aloud, we noticed some areas that needed to be addressed. Our group met later in the week to discuss them. Now, we have a clear problem statement and consensus on the flow of the presentation. There are so many different stakeholders in our project that we are now assessing the best way to connect them. Our task is to present a compelling strategy to the administration at the UC College of Law. Based on in-class feedback, we are stitching different aspects of our project to deliver... Hello, In preparation for our pitch statement interviews, our team spent nearly two hours discussing the different parts to the statement. We worked on it separately before consolidating it into one document. We approached some parts of it from the perspectives of different stakeholders in the market. While there were many questions and hurdles initially, we have generated a pitch statement that addresses the challenge we are tackling. As we are getting closer to the final presentation, our team has been discussing different elements we want to include in our presentation. As we present our strategy, the team will use... Hello! I’m sharing a combined blog post for weeks 8 and 9 because the work was essentially the same until the end of Spring Break. Overall, our project is on track with the proposed charter. The survey to members of the student organizations received dozens of responses. It was particularly intriguing to read responses to the question, “What does diversity mean to you?” Students shared some passionate answers. The survey will close at the end of the week. Once it closes we will validate the survey data against insights from our in-depth interviews. Our team had a brief phone call... Continue reading

Hello, Our team has been working on using the insights and core meanings generated from the in-depth interviews to generate guiding principles. Guiding principles will help us identify the direction we want to take our ideas in. We have also sent out a survey to students in organizations at UC College of Law. The organizations the surveys have been out to are already having conversations about identity and diversity. We want to understand how these organizations are impacting students and whether or not they have an influence in an applicants’ decision to apply to UC. By clearly communicating with the... Hello, I'm delighted to read that your Capstones are taking shape. We're slowly heading towards the business end. Towards the end of last week, we sent out a progress update to our client. They have been extremely prompt in responding. You can tell they are invested in this initiative. This week, our team will reach out to presidents of the many student organizations for underrepresented populations at the UC College of Law. In addition to attending their meetings, we will send out surveys to understand their experiences with diversity. Gathering some quantitative data in addition to the qualitative research we... Hello all, Hope your Capstones are coming along nicely. Earlier today, our group met with Professor Hardin to discuss where we are at now and the next steps. So far we have completed 16 interviews and tomorrow is the last day of interviewing. After tomorrow, we will focus on finishing our insights spreadsheet, value attribute map, and competitive analysis. For our next steps, Professor Hardin recommended we use some design thinking tools like the empathy map and also create personas. We may have multiple personas for this project but creating them will help us develop the story better. As we... Continue reading

Hello, After last week’s minor mishap, I made it a point to check the recording frequently. The four participants this week were interviewed in pairs. Since students are broken into sections, they not only end up taking classes together but also study together. Interviewing students in the same section has helped the conversation. They have a good rapport with one another and it adds to the conversation. There has been a steady increase in participants every week. With the help of the communications director at the College of Law, we have managed to ensure that students are aware of our... Continue reading

Hello, Our team is working on developing a strategy to increase awareness of the UC College of Law among underrepresented populations. Initially, we developed an understanding of the college through meetings with key members of the administration. Last week, we began the most important phase of our project- research. Our qualitative research is focused on understanding the goals and motivations of the student body at the College of Law. Carly, Nicole and I will be interviewing students on different days of the week. To incentivize students to participate, with the help of the College of Law, we will be giving... Continue reading

Hello everyone! Hope your projects are coming along nicely. After a fantastic meeting with Dean Williams and getting our charter approved, we have kicked-off our research process this week. For our project with the UC College of Law, the research is the most important phase. Our project is focused on developing a strategy to increase applications from underrepresented populations. During this research phase, we will be seeking to understand the beliefs, behaviors, and motivations of the student body at the College of Law. We are eager to listen to the students and gain insights into their aspirations and career goals.... Continue reading

Hello! Our client for the Marketing Capstone is UC’s College of Law. This capstone has presented us with a tremendous opportunity to develop a strategy that, if successful, can eventually have a positive impact on many communities. No pressure! My team members, Carly, Nicole and I are excited by this opportunity. Although we were not able to schedule a kick-off meeting with our client until late last week, the conversations reinvigorated our enthusiasm. The College of Law is steeped in history and has helped shaped hundreds of Justice Fighters over the years. While it offers plenty of career pathways in... Continue reading
