Hi everyone! I can't believe the semester is almost over! I don't have many updates on my capstone project with the 1819 Innovation Hub. I have my presentation scheduled for May 16th, so I'm happy that even though I have to present after I graduate, it won't be too long after before I can present. Today I sent my more detailed research into the University of Pittsburgh and the offerings they have for businesses to Myrita Craig to look over. I am hoping that the data I sent her is what she is looking for so I can really dive... Continue reading

Hi everyone! I can't believe the semester is almost over and graduation is so close! After meeting with Myrita last week, I have some big updates regarding my capstone project with the 1819 Innovation Hub. I presented my data on innovation curriculum at innovative universities, such as Pitt, Northeastern, and Georgia Tech. The presentation went well, and it also pointed me in a more specific direction on information David and Myrita are looking for. From now until the end of the semester, I will be compiling more data on more universities, not necessarily the three areas Myrita had mentioned before,... Continue reading

Hi everyone! Tomorrow, before class, I am meeting with Drew to go over my progress on my project for 1819 Innovation Hub, my pitch for class tomorrow, and prepping for my presentation on Tuesday. I am presenting the information I found on innovation curriculum (as discussed in my last post) and key aspects of the 1819 hub and UC that would be a competitive advantage in this niche market. I am really excited to present my findings because I Myrita, one of my clients, was really excited to hear my findings and I believe I have found the exact type... Continue reading

Hi everyone! My capstone project took a little hit with the focus of the project being changed (hence the delay in posting), but Drew and I have worked together and come up with a game plan for my new focus: innovation curriculum. I have spent the last few weeks doing heavy research on different universities across the country, focusing on Boston, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh, to see if universities are offering degrees or certificates of some kind in innovation, and if they are partnering with any local companies or hubs in the area. To my surprise, I found that all of... Continue reading

Hello everyone! After meeting with Drew and Myrita last Monday, we discussed multiple different aspects of my capstone project for 1819 Innovation Hub. After reporting back to the CFO David Adams, Myrita informed Drew that the project is going to be taking a different route. Rather than focusing on creating a brand for the 1819 Innovation Hub, I am going to be focusing solely on innovation curriculum and if that is a path worth taking. Moving forward, I am going to continue to research and dive deep into different universities around the country to learn more about any innovation programs... Continue reading

Hi everyone! My capstone project with the 1819 Innovation Hub is really starting to take off. Last Thursday, I might with Myrita Craig to go over some of the research I have done so far and the beginning of my competitive analysis. Overall, she likes where I am going, but wants me to take more of a focus other universities and what kind of innovation programs they are offering. She is interested to see the curriculum, if any, offerings at different universities because they are considering the idea of making a certificate program of some kind available at UC through... Hi everyone! This Thursday I am meeting with Myrita Crag at 1819 Innovation Hub to go over what I have so far on my competitive analysis on other innovation areas in the country. After talking to Drew, I decided on the key components I am going to be focusing on in my analysis- products/services offered, innovation hubs, and innovative areas. Products or services would be the types of trainings and retreats offered in the area to help businesses learn innovation tactics. This would also include the methods of innovation they are teaching. Many key innovative areas have their own innovation... Continue reading

Hi everyone! I had my project review meeting with Dianne this past week, and she gave me a lot of useful insights to help me with my project for 1819 Innovation Hub. A roadblock we discussed is the amount of research I have to do for this project and how I am going to take the massive amounts of data and put it into a format I can submit to David and Myrita. First, I am going to go back into my e-marketing files from when I took the class with Dianne during undergrad and find the powerpoints and documents... Continue reading

Hello everyone! I don’t have much to report this week as far as progress on my project with the 1819 Innovation Hub. After my last meeting with Drew Boyd, I started doing research on other innovative cities and innovation hubs around the country, and I quickly realized I highly underestimated the amount of research I would have to do. I started with an article I found listing the top 10 innovative cities in America, and from there I decided to research each city individually to find innovation hubs or centers and what kinds of products they offered (ex. Innovation programs,... Continue reading

Hi everyone! There hasn’t been much physical progress since the last time I posted on the blog, but in the past week I have been able to develop a much clearer understanding of what is expected of me in the next few weeks. To recap, my project is with 1819 Innovation Hub, and I am working closely with Drew Boyd to determine potential opportunities for 1819 executives David Adams and Myrita Craig. I had a phone call meeting with Drew on Friday to review what all was discussed during the lunch we had with David and Myrita last week, and... Continue reading
