tk, besides noticing that someone referred to as "Kev" (lar kid?) is a deleted account, I also saw that the adjacent thread was about JFK's assassination, so I read that now for the first time. It's dangerous, getting lost in two-year-old threads...

Yep, happy Dad's day to all; it's noon and I'm still waiting for a single one of my kids to call me, hmphh.

Swampy or not, Manafort apparently pissed off Ultimate Swamper Mueller royally, which means he can't be all bad. He was convicted of charges that prosecutors had decided not to pursue a decade ago.

It looks like Manafort is going to have some rough times until, probably, the day after Trump is reelected. Too bad for Cohen that he's so stupid (hard to believe, when listening to Cohen talk, that he could pass the bar exam).

I know, TomR, I can't really get a bead on Rosenstein. Someday we'll know.
Toggle Commented May 30, 2019 on Collusion Never Dies! at JustOneMinute
Rosenstein might just be the kind of guy who does whatever the last person he talked to told him to do. People entirely lacking in substance can nevertheless climb pretty far up the ladder doing just that.

All that handshaking from a supposedly confirmed germophobe? Trump wanted Chris Christie to be the guy who hands him the Purell, but it didn't work out.
Toggle Commented May 30, 2019 on Collusion Never Dies! at JustOneMinute
TomR, I'm not sure how you know Mueller would have turned down the job if offered; ostensibly Mueller was there to talk about the FBI slot, even if Trump and Mueller both expected nothing to come of it.
Toggle Commented May 30, 2019 on Collusion Never Dies! at JustOneMinute
Very true, JiB. TomR, Trump did not exactly hit the ground running when he got to Washington; in those first few weeks he was basically trying to find people he could trust, and learning the ropes. As I understand it, it's customary to listen to former Directors even if you're not planning on hiring them, just to see what can be learned.

It occurred to me that I probably should fire assholes in the parking lot so they leave less of a mess when they are gone. Empty out their desk when they're out at lunch, wait outside and hand them their belongings in a box. On a Friday afternoon.

Here's a searchable Mueller report, it's probably been posted here before: https://apps.npr.org/documents/document.html?id=5955997-Muellerreport

Jane, hasn't Rush been great lately?
Toggle Commented May 30, 2019 on Collusion Never Dies! at JustOneMinute
henry, I'm not sure how much coverage it gets, but it's in there - Mueller talks about Trump's call-out to Russia to find Hillary's emails as if Trump was serious. A humorless jerk.

Miss M, I don't know how it would work (I've no experience at all in terms of golfing or country clubs).
Toggle Commented May 30, 2019 on Collusion Never Dies! at JustOneMinute
Miss Marple, the fees from the golf club is old news, but what I learned today is that (if I understood Rush right) Mueller joined the club in 1994, paid a 15k greens fee, resigned from the club in 2011 because he was moving from the area, and in his resignation letter asked for a refund from that fee paid 17 years prior. And was told he'd be put on a "waiting list to be refunded", from which I guess he never received anything. Anyway, that's how I understood Rush as I was driving around town.

“There may not be tanks in our streets, but make no mistake we are witnessing an assault on the rule of law.” At which point a tank turned the corner and mowed Mrs. Clinton down.

Porch, you're right, I wasn't considering it that way. I know when I worked at Amazon, which is non-union, males could take a certain number of weeks "maternity leave" if their spouse had a baby, and if both parents were employees they could split up the maternity leave however they chose.

Porch, any male employee who is divorced and who sought and won primary custodian rights. And that happens quite a bit.

...what progress has been made defeating the bureaucrats of the deep state? I think that far more people today are aware that a deep state exists than realized it in 2016. I don't think Mueller could have held that press conference without Barr's approval. Why not? He's resigning, after all, but I can't imagine Barr telling Mueller, "no, you can't speak" in any case - it would just cause problems. Mueller's last stand was to try to deflect and discredit the coming shitstorm of truth that will ruin him and his cronies. Mueller knew there was no collusion and hung on through an election anyway, hoping to find or fabricate some obstruction? Then he should lose his pension.

what else could he possibly say? "Out west the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them." "The walrus was Paul". "No collusion, no obstruction". "Please start calling it the Weissmann report".

First. Mueller to say probably pretty much nothing, then run from the cameras, at 11 am. No way does a SCOTUS nominee get voted on with less than a year to an election, at least not in this political climate (which looks like it will last forever).

On that play, it looks like Buckner is violating the age-old rule to get your glove all the way to the ground even if you think you can read a likely bounce, and to block the ball with your body. I just read today that Buckner had bad knees, and thus was a poor choice for first base duty.
