If a candidate leaves the campaign trail and no one notices, does it make a sound? Nope; Tulsi Gabbard is, right now, doing one of the active duty stints her Reserve obligations call for, and I didn't hear nuffin.

I thought Pickens became famous because he had a funny name that was easy to remember. I liked when he rode that bomb. Alright, that was Slim, not T. Boone - I knew that!

Hey, Robin, thanks, much appreciated. I can tell you that Googling various permutations of "woodworking bearings michigan expert" has been an utter failure for me.

Lately, I have been drinking "open house" wines neighbors bring over when you have them for dinner. Other People's is some of the most satisfying wines I've had. Jack, just noticed your comment from the other day - thanks.

Scaramucci is clearly a head case, not much different than Omarossa. Trump attracts and repels a diverse cast of loonies.

The pizzagate thing was pretty darned feverish, but people doubting a story that makes little sense seems the normal reaction.

current job activities of newly licensed lawyers. Sounds like the new bar exam will feature questions on carrying partners' briefcases, getting partners coffee and danish, doing research for partners until 3 am.

So little do I follow pro basketball today that, when I saw that the Nets had changed hands with the highest sale price ever for a U.S. sports team, I discovered that they're not even the New Jersey Nets anymore, but the Brooklyn Nets. Highest price ever, never heard of them!

Funny, Buckeye, but not Cleese (and the "final thought" at the end wasn't even part of it when it came out 2013 masquerading as Cleese).

Miss M, definitely didn't write the review, but there is a photo of her sitting at the In n Out reading a book. Looks like her, could be any time though I suppose.

Ghislaine (sp?) Maxell spotted reading a book at an LA burger place, that book being "The Book of Honor : The Secret Lives and Deaths of CIA Operatives", published in 2001. Naturally, there's an Amazon review published yesterday by a "G. Maxwell" that reads: 5.0 out of 5 stars A comforting read after a personal tragedy August 15, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition A good friend of mine died recently under very tragic circumstances. Some of us saw it coming for quite a while but it was still a huge shock when it finally happened. I picked up this book at the advice of a friend and absolutely couldn't put it down. I'd read it walking the dog, getting fast food, or even just lounging around the house. It helped me realized that my friend really believed in something, and that giving your life for the CIA, NSA, FBI, Mossad, or other intelligence agency is truly a higher calling and not something to mourn. A wholehearted recommendation. 114 people found this helpful"

The NY Post says, of the rice cooker jerk... "Police said the man appears to be homeless, wearing a blue T-shirt that appears to say “Prime Day.” He has black curly hair and a tattoo on his right arm." I wonder what the appearance of homelessness is; in the photos he looks like any guy wearing a t-shirt. He is not particularly slovenly or anything. Really, unless they have other info, it might as well be "Police said the man appears to be a hedge fund manager on his day off", etc.

Epstein who?? "I can't believe GUS has forgotten me".

I think it's pretty clear that Trump would've taken New Hampshire except for Massachusetts voters pouring over the state line to vote illegally.

The 10 yr vs 2 yr spread, charted. Change it from a 1-yr chart to "all", which goes back to the 70's, and imagine a chart of the Dow laid on top of it - any investor with even a moderately long timeline shouldn't buy into the Chicken Little talk. https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/?symbol=10Y2YS

I mentioned Shannan Gilbert's hyoid bone this morning and voila, here's an article that mentions how Michael Baden oversaw both Epstein's and Shannan Gilbert's autopsies, and it goes into the hyoid issue: https://www.crimeonline.com/2019/08/15/jeffrey-epstein-autopsy-found-multiple-breaks-in-neck-bones-deepening-questions-about-reported-jailhouse-suicide/

Ugh, Jane, that's what I feared; are there even nominal "rules" they're supposed to follow?
Will do, Cap'n, sounds good.
How about the guards were never even sleepy, so excited were they by the large sums of money Epstein had paid them for looking the other way, or which Clinton had paid them for looking the other way, or which the Royal Family had paid them for looking the other way. Any "investigation" that doesn't dive pretty darn deep into the personal lives of everyone stationed there that night is just a sham investigation.
I'm not clear on this - what happens to Hickenlooper's 836k on hand? https://votesmart.org/candidate/campaign-finance/71547/john-hickenlooper#.XVVym-hKi00
Cap'n, I'm quite a bit east of State College, but I have a daughter who lives in Pittsburgh who I do drop in on now and then; I'll let you know next time I'm going to be out that way?
Porch, you're right. I didn't want to make a thing of it, just sort of wanted to share my perspective about when Daddy passed, which I did brood about.
A baseball player who struck out does not take it out on the Gatorade bucket because they are mad at Gatorade. I like that, sbw. How far are you off 80, box? Looks like I'm about 65 miles south of it, Cap'n.
henry, was just reading about Rizzo, didn't realize he actually endorsed Nixon in '72! But look at the follow-up to Wilson Goode - the execrable Ed Rendell. Meanwhile, the burnt-out hulls of north Philly houses have sat there unchanged for 30 or 40 years.
henry, last Republican mayor of Philadelphia left office in 1952, that's pretty much all anyone needs to know.
