I'm editing a technical manual and was wondering how often acronyms need to be defined. There is an introduction section that consists of general information for the reader and there are a lot of acronyms used in these pages. Following the introduction section, there are multiple chapters covering independent topics. Some of the acronyms are defined in the introduction but then not in the Chapters. Should acronyms be defined in each chapter or just in its initial use in the introduction and/or the first occurrence in a chapter? I feel like they should be defined in their initial use in EACH chapter because the reader may only be looking for information in that particular chapter.
