Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Happy Monday! I cannot believe it's April already, once the snow starts to melt the spring semester truly flies by. Last week we had our client review with both Laurie + Zach as well as Dianne. I am feeling so much better about our project and can come into this week with a little bit of breathing room. During our connect with Dianne, we explained our progress and where we would like to get, or analyze, before the end of the semester. She explained our ambition is awesome, but it may... Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Happy April Fool's Day! This week is our second client review and I am feeling very proud of how far Mackenzie and I come this semester diving into a new topic and learning the ropes. Now that we are at the end and can envision our final product - it is really important to keep client buy-in in our mind at all times. Last week we started to develop the story which is crucial to present our information and get everyone on the same page. This applies to the Business of... Continue reading

Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Hi everyone - happy Monday! The week before Spring Break my teammate and I really put in work knowing we would be off the grid for a week. That being said - we have to kick it in gear and tie up our loose ends before our client meeting next week! I've written about the importance of client communication before and it goes both ways; this week out client has a lot of things on her schedule and we were able to be flexible and meet on a later date for... Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Good evening! Mackenzie and I have had an awesome week getting a handle of the social media calendar (punny, get it - handle) for the DAAP Fashion Show project. We went into DAAP three times this week during senior student's studio or working time and chatted with them individually. Our purpose was to listen to each student talk about their project and understand the meaning behind it all. Our quick little interviews were gathering the following information: Name Design Handle Would you give me a summary of your project? You know,... Continue reading

Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Hi everyone! I wanted to write today about how grateful I am to have flexible clients that are willing to help. At the start of the project, we were told that tickets for the DAAP Fashion Show would go on March 15th. When Mackenzie and I mapped out our work and progress, we used this milestone for the start of the social media calendar and outreach to Cincinnati newspapers. All the while, the location of the Fashion Show was not yet determined. I'm not sure if I can say where it... Continue reading

Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Hi everyone! Last week, Mackenzie and I had our client review as well as our individual meeting with Dianne. We put a large emphasis on the actual presentation of the materials, creating a visually appealing powerpoint, printing decks for our clients, ie. I think going forward, we can allocate our time better like going deeper into our research or starting into the next phase. I've also learned that depending on the project, it's not the presentation at the moment that matters, but when the information is presented later to other stakeholders... Continue reading

Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Hi everyone - I write this blog post on the eve of our first client review! There is a slight feeling of anxiety brewing as Mackenzie and I finish up some of the deliverable modules and compose loose ends. Will the client think we have done enough? We feel as if we are delivering upon the areas we promised on the charter, but are uncertain to proceed further without making sure we are headed in the right direction. We haven't met our client since the last week of January and as... Continue reading

Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Good evening everyone! Today marks our sixth week into the Capstone project and it feels like it has been a slow start truly understanding the task at hand, but our project is based on a lot of understanding and immersing so it will come slowly. It is a little difficult for me to switch between the research for the Business of Fashion Program and then quick actionable items with the DAAP Fashion Show. I thought I would enjoy being able to somewhat take a break from one and work on something... Continue reading

Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Hi all, Last week I wrote about our Project Charter and the deliverables we agreed upon for our project. As I type this post and review our project charter, not only do we have a lot of work to do to finalize the deliverable for our meeting with our client and Dianne, we have a lot of research and small steps to do before that. I will admit, it is somewhat difficult creating mini goals and deadlines for myself. To keep myself accountable, I've started drafting the items that need to... Continue reading

Project: DAAP Fashion Show + Business of Fashion Program Hi everyone! This week, Mackenzie and I completed a finalized rough draft for our project charter and had a quick meeting with our Client - DAAP Fashion professor and coordinators, Laurie Wilson and Zach Hoh. I found it really helpful when drafting out the charter by working backwards from our project deliverables/modules. Although these analyses will be helpful to map out our results and complete our grade, we quickly learned that are many tasks at hand outside these major deliverables that our client will depend on us for. For example, we... Continue reading

Hi everyone! This semester for Capstone I am working with Mackenzie Mayernik on two projects with similar stakeholders: the 2019 DAAP Fashion Show and exploring a Business of Fashion area of study for UC. Our clients are Laurie Wilson, who has been in charge of the DAAP Fashion show for many years, Zach Koh, who is the Fashion Design Program Coordinator, and Dianne Hardin herself. Although the projects are in the realms of Tactical Execution/DAAP Fashion Show and Explosive Growth/Business of Fashion, there is so much content and information to be explored that it feels as if we are creating...
