I can see the purple on the TV. And I know they’re there. They’re watching on Pearl Street in Cambridge, they’re watching in the South End, they’re watching at the bar I passed. It’s the playoffs and it’s wild card weekend and the Vikings and Saints are tied 20 -... Continue reading

If there was an answer to “how do I live a good life?” I think I would have heard it by now. There’s of course a thousand answers and some sound quite convincing, but I don’t fully believe any of them. I think doing good is one way, because for... Continue reading

Because Ed just turned his back on a job that he was going to hate. He's been doing sales since college and after getting let go he got a job doing some landscaping, but you can't landscape in winter so he applied to a few corporate type companies. The morning... Continue reading

It's what makes good writing and it's what I respect most about writers. Being honest is scary. So much of today is make believe. I am never quite sure who anybody is anymore. I feel surrounded by actors. I feel like an actor. Trying to say the right things, be... Continue reading

That’s a big responsibility. How do you live a good life? What does ‘good’ mean? I think ‘good’ means something different to everyone because no two people are the same. We have different desires, different abilities, different makeups, and different interests. So maybe the way to live a good life... Continue reading

Having hard conversations is hard. It's one of the hardest things I had to do at ButcherBox. I dreaded having them. It took a while to learn to even have them in the first place and then even longer to learn how do them effectively or at least not royally... Continue reading

I wasn't ready for success. I have no idea what to do with it. I have made it through the goal posts, worked my ass off for 10 years, and against all odds found success. But now I have no idea what the hell to do. Nobody ever talked to... Continue reading

It’s one hell of a ride. It’s unlike anything. You feel so completely alive and so utterly breakable at the same time. And once the ride is over you don’t know what to feel. It’s too much to take in. The brain can’t make sense of what just happened. And... Continue reading

Thank you for the kind words! I want to more so say yes to letting myself enjoy the ride and relax. That's the #1 thing I am struggling with right now. The whole not having a job thing is quite challenging some days. But it's mostly great :) Regarding your second question, I think more people should follow their energy instead of wealth when it comes to making life decisions, I think people should read more books and stop reading a book if they don't enjoy it (what's the point in finishing it?), and treat every single person equally, same level of respect.
Haha yea I think I asked a few too many questions in that post. Boggles my mind too. I haven't meditated regularly and I keep saying I'll try it but never do, perhaps this will be the week :) looking forward to catching up with ya soon so we can discuss all this jazz. And I haven't figured myself out yet either, long way to go there.

Thank you Phil! You're a good dude.
Where the prep cooks are treated with the same level of respect as the scientists. Because without the prep cooks the scientists don't eat and scientists like to eat. It's called McMurdo Station. And the people who live there probably wouldn't like even little me writing about it, because as... Continue reading

That means you have 32,850 days on earth (perhaps a few on Mars if you're young and bold). That's 788,400 hours, 525,600 waking hours (24hrs - 8hrs for sleep = 16 waking hrs/day) What have you done with your time so far? How many waking hours do you have left?... Continue reading

Thank you Phil! I will checkout those series. And yes, people are what make everything alright :)
Love this, you should start blogging, you are such a strong writer! Especially like your description of the sky and the colors and the tanker ships, as well as the burn of a day at work. Thank you very much for sharing! Enjoy the couch.

Time is precious. You can't go out and buy another year. Imagine what the going rate would be for an extra year of life!? Or even an extra two hours in a day (26 vs. 24). Typically we trade it for things that make us happy like hanging out with... Continue reading

I see the book lined white walls of my apartment. The people rushing in the morning. The 47 bus at standing room only on the corner of Pearl st. and Eerie. The doors held open and thank you's exchanged. The tailgaters quadrupling the likelihood of getting into a fatal accident... Continue reading

It was 10:59AM. The song On a Beach by Neil Young was half passed and I was leaving because Molly had a call at 11:00. Book in hand (Just Kids) and a kick in my step I closed the gate to our back walkway and turned the corner onto Pearl... Continue reading
