As you know, all good things must come to an end. This is the sign going out of the campsite. This would be funny if not for the fact that Grampie might actually need a reminder to ensure wife is in vehicle! Very funny, Bill! Continue reading

This is part of the walking path that goes by the Fort and along the river. I hope you can see the cute little street lights. We had to drive about 45 minutes to get there, but it was a beautiful drive and well worth it. I would love to... Continue reading

Next, we went to Fort Southwest Point. This was a federal frontier outpost at what is now Kingston, Tennessee. It was constructed in 1797 and garrisoned by federal soldiers until 1811. The fort served as a major point of interaction between the Cherokee and the United States government as well... Continue reading

We started in historic downtown Clinton. This is a quaint little town with about a block and a half of antique stores. My favorite was the old furniture store. Three stories of antiques and motivated owner willing to negotiate! I found old Nancy Drew books for the girls and great... Continue reading

Day 2 in Clinton, we got up early, had a hearty breakfast of oatmeal and fresh blueberries and headed up to Norris Lake. It was a little chilly that morning, but we warmed up quickly during the walk. We took the boys. They are getting up there in years, so... Continue reading

Our first outing was down the road from the campground at the Appalachian Museum. The grounds replicate Appalachian life. There is also a museum, gift store and restaurant. While we did not eat there, the food smelled wonderful and the gift shop was huge, carrying a good assortment of stuff. Continue reading

Our last stop was Clinton, Tennessee. We had never been there, but quickly fell in love with it. Actually, I had passed through and stopped for lunch a couple of years ago. Three colleagues were headed down to Gatlinburg to conduct Oz Principal training, and we stopped in Clinton for... Continue reading

Our last day at Fort DeSoto was Thursday and Justin's birthday. Lizz's birthday is also in April so we took everyone on an excursion to Shell Key. Although it was pretty windy, the weather was beautiful. We were able to see lots of dolphins, and we had time to do... Continue reading

Kaylin loved feeding the Flamingos. It was toward the end of the day, and we were told they probably would not be hungry, but they ate everything we had and when we ran out, one of the bigger birds, pecked my on the arm repeatedly and pinched me! Continue reading
