Only the end of an era Listen here: https://anchor.fm/owenomalley/episodes/OMalley-Final-Metacognition-eepdak/a-a2bd91u I’ve grown so much as a writer this year. I remember walking into my first day of class, nervous and unsure of what to expect. It was my ninth grade year, and I had no idea what that meant. Little did... Continue reading

A walk with the trees “There is a wilderness we walk alone, However well-companioned” ― Stephen Vincent Benét At the start of this year we were given an assignment. It was a short writing blurb that we had to write before school started; the catch was that we had to... Continue reading

Fitz, this was a really cool piece to read. It’s like going back in time to see you when you were new at teaching English. I got to see what changed and what stayed the same. I can see the groundwork that was lain all that time ago. I also really liked the ending. Nice job!

Sam, I really liked how you wrote about your dad. This was definitely a memoir that stayed focused. You kept a constant theme throughout your writing and it really made the piece seem whole. Nice job!

Elliot, I like how you focus on how the small things matter. You did a great job at reflecting on only about 15 minutes of your day, and how that’s important to you. Nice work!

Fitz, I really liked how you did this piece. Your vivid memories really could be fully experienced in how you wrote it. While you focus on someone else, this still feels deeply personal. I wasn’t really sure how I was going to write my memoir, but this helps.

Sam, this is a nice piece on what seems like a sorrowful end of Fenn. I feel the same way. Parts of it were funny and parts were sad, and I think you did a great job at balancing the two, nice work.

Jack, this is a really great reflection on a simple topic. You did a great job at narrowing in on something that we don’t think about often and expanding it to look at your present and future. This is a refreshing look at a straightforward topic. Nice job!

Connor, this is a nice blurb of what’s going on in your head. It feels as if I’m actually reading your thoughts. You did a good job at making this very realistic of how you think. Nice work!

Finley, I really liked this journal entry. I feel the same way too. Everything just seems so lacking. I think you did a great job reflecting on how you feel in a clear and direct way. Nice job!
