A problem is a problem but it helps to have some "perspective". This is worth a read. "One in three hundred Canadians identify as transgender or non-binary. Or to be precise, of the nearly 30.5 million people in Canada aged 15 and over living in a private household, 59,460 were transgender and another 41,335 were non-binary. The data comes from a new census which Statistics Canada claims to be a world first to report on transgender and non-binary people." https://unherd.com/thepost/canada-census-reveals-how-many-people-are-trans/ UK population 65 million, so double these Canadian figures for the UK?! It would also be interesting to know what it was, say, 100 years ago!

There is a very powerful and new dimension to this emerging cold war. The Internet, mobile phones, and the spread of information. So far, the free world despite all its contradictory trends, is pushing a strong message, which is getting through to the Russian people (many of whom might be wondering why they can't get a MacDonalds) Come on Horace, Jeremy Corbyn / university lecturer attitudes will NOT prevail.

What do the Taliban have to say about all these starving children and people? How do they propose to make things better? Are they doing anything? Are they providing any relief? One assumes Taliban fighters are getting fed. There don’t appear to be any news or reports on these matters, at least, I haven't seen any.

What do they teach in school? It's on my list of things to do, visit our local W H Smith and flick through the A level history books and revision guides. I'm not optimistic!

There is another aspect to this story that needs to be firmly established and covered in our educational system. According to Martin Gilbert in his Routledge Atlas of the Arab-Israeli conflict, 580,000 Jews living in the Arab world, some communities going back 2500 years, subject to continual pressure and persecution fled their homes and lands to move to the new sate of Israel. Some colonialists then!!!! An Arab friend of mine, long-time in the UK, told me that Bagdad was once the Middle Eastern city with the largest Jewish population.

And the 500,000++ Christian Pontic Greeks, and Armenians who had to flee their lands! What do they teach here in the UK in schools? I bet none of this gets a mention.
