We did a lot of work on the house this summer with a focus on the exterior. Our plan was extensive including replacing all exterior rot, replacing a few broken gutters and downspouts, as well as re-grading the back yard... Continue reading

What a great idea InteriorDesignLover. I will figure out how to do a video on my new phone and start learning how to do that. Stay tuned.

Thanks Terry... I know it's been a long time. Glad I could bring you back to your youth. The owner told stories about being in the horse hair room. Where they recycled the horsehair. Garner still makes a few models with horse hair. Hope you are well. I am getting back to blogging after an extended stay. New look coming soon too. Hope you are well.

The summer of 2013 is one to be remembered. We got married. Then a month later, we started a renovation. To prepare, it was weeks and weeks of clearing out basements, packing and cleaning and getting ready to move out... Continue reading

One of the biggest challenges in renovating and old home is controlling costs. Because you can't. You don't know the extent of existing condions until the walls come down and the work begins. With clients, I spend a lot of... Continue reading

Nothing like a little green and some bright colors to cheer up the office for Spring. Needed something happy. So re-did the design boards today. Now back to work. (Tomorrow I'll bring in the steamer.) Continue reading

A client sent me some images of things she saw online that she liked for upholstery and rugs. Reds mostly. She sent the image of this rug. It's a nice rug. I like the rug. I know the rug. But... Continue reading

We didn't use hard wood in this application. It's vinyl and it just looks like wood. I have had plenty of clients use wood in a basement. Especially high-end new construction. I don't suggest it but clients don't mind if they have to pull it up, even after being informed about the pros and cons. And they can control for moisture, with a new home, unless Sandy or some other big one hits... :)

The wonder of the world is that there are so many choices. In real life these are graceful and elegant but certainly not everyone's cup of tea.
