1/2/3 To be fair, it was recently Christmas in July. And while I agree that Christmastime deserves recognition during more than one month of the year, something about it being 87 degrees at night just doesn't get me in as festive of a mood. :) Anyways - as we inch... Continue reading

Top Left/Top Right/Bottom Left/Bottom Right I'm spinning my life away these days. The past two weekends we have been laying low, staying out of the heat, spinning, reading about spinning, and dreaming about it. There are so many beautiful places to buy fiber in the U.S., and these are some... Continue reading

Continuing in my recent trend of working with LOTS of color this summer, I worked on a couple of spinning projects this past week that were filled with bright color changes, soft fiber, and all around just a great time. I first found Melissa of Hey Lady Hey months ago... Continue reading

Well, I'm doing it again. The classic, I'm-almost-done-with-a-project-lets-preemptively-start-working-on-the-next-one dance I seem to do every time a monster project is close to being done. Tonight I joined all of the pieces of my Gable together and while I'm so excited, I'm also catching all of the infectious energy surrounding Marlee and... Continue reading

So I am a huge fan of ABM and have been for over three years now, but this post is extra special to me because I'm pretty sure it saved my cat's life! My favorite flowers are also lilies but I had no idea they were toxic to cats. On Thursday night one of my cats got into our lilies but was acting totally normal so I didn't think anything of it. When I saw this post I immediately called my vet and took him in and he was in kidney failure even though he was acting fine. After intensive care this weekend, he's going to be ok, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for this post. Everything happens for a reason!

1/2/3/4 Lately I've been dreaming of summer vacation, of getting this sweater off of my needles, and of long stretches of time to knit on a beach. Or on my porch, or anywhere, really. And what I want to be knitting the most in this dream scenario is a shawl... Continue reading

I realized it's been a while since I gave an update about my first sweater! Luckily, there's lots to talk about. The twisted rib is really elegant, and with a minor mishap in counting I even managed the short rows without much difficulty. A little side shaping, a lot of... Continue reading

A few weeks ago, the day was completely perfect, not a cloud in the sky, and I drove my Civic out past Chapel Hill towards the Carolina Fiber Fest. My first and only other experience with fiber fests being Rhinebeck, the queen of all festivals, I didn't know what to... Continue reading

1/2/3 As I write this post, I'm catching up on the season premiere of the final season of Mad Men, so I can't even pretend that that doesn't have something to do with my recent knitwear loves. The 70s seem to be coming back in a big way, and I... Continue reading

My two big projects I was working on so far this year, Hansel and my husband's socks, both came to a conclusion within a week of each other in March. I got this sudden drive to stop staring at all of this lovely O-Wool I got for my birthday and... Continue reading

My husband LOVES socks. It must be a family thing, his youngest brother has two full drawers of them, and in our house, there's a pair of socks to coordinate with every bow tie. So when we went to our LYS a few months back, I was totally not surprised... Continue reading

1/2/3/4 My just-finished "Hansel" also has been doubling as a great lap blanket on these cool spring nights, so I've had knitted blankets on the brain recently. I love the idea of having a long-term piecemeal project I can work on whenever I need a break from whatever current project... Continue reading

image source Hi! Just wanted to pop in for a quick note to say that I'm being featured as a "Man on the Street" for this week's Woolful podcast, episode 15. The question this week is, "What advice would you give someone starting out on their fiber journey?" I've been... Continue reading

I have never really been a monogamous knitter. Maybe on my first ever project, but that's it. I like to think that's because there's too many good things to knit in the world, but it's probably just because I'm scatterbrained :) I'm currently knitting two fingering weight projects and so... My brother-in-law moved to Boston this summer, and there was only one thing he really wanted for Christmas to survive his first Northern winter: warm clothes. On Christmas morning he received no less than two coats, three sweaters, gloves, warm pants and four pairs of socks. And from his knitterly... Continue reading

source Hi hello hey there. The closer that the holidays get the shorter the days seem. Does anyone else tend to feel that way? Lots of knitting in my life, not so much picture taking because the sun has been setting at 4:30 PM. Wut. Anyhoo, last night the hubs... Continue reading

I've been doing a lot of knitting lately, to be sure, but on top of the projects I'm working on for Christmas (which is approaching much more swiftly than I'd like), I've also been doing a lot of research. Two weeks ago the first Woolful podcast came to be, and... Continue reading

Here are some lovely random... Continue reading
