Of the three ex MEPs, Chris Heaton-Harris and Neil Parish have both been very effective, experienced outside politics and hardly out of touch with the Euroscepticism of most contributors to this site.
Jonathan Evans may be [less fashionably] europhile, but was almost the only standard bearer of Conservatism in Wales for some years, is one of the best speakers in British politics, a hugely experienced lawyer, has a workrate that most candidates would wince at and was one of the most effective ministers in the Major govt (the only 1992 elected MP to get to Minister of State?) A real class act. We need that sort of experience.
