The Short List: Week 6
Conference play is in full swing this week as the survivors on the Shortlist in 2010 number only 35 and read as follows still linked to their conference peers in no particular order: Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, Florida, South Carolina, Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Michigan, ...
Offense: Berry
Defense: Harris
Hey Soup, back away from my alma mater ASU. Hey, we're just trying to get our partying school image back. Being sober and having to watch that pathetic football team just aint cutting it anymore. lol
Legends Of The Fall 2010
Here are the early returns from the Canespace 2010 Legends of The Fall (LOF) voting. Keep voting, the polls are open until April 15! So far a total of 65 votes have been counted and voters have been true to the competition with picks ranging all across the spectrum of UM players on both offen...
Jacory need to learn to either, get rid of the ball, throw it away or tuck it and run. He holds on to the ball too long and put a lot of pressure on the OL to maintain their block.
Rallying The Troops
Today in Orlando on International Drive not far from the maddening traffic jams of Theme Park tourists stranded on I-4 was a small piece of Magic. And it had absolutely nothing to do with pixie dust or Disney. We found UM President Donna Shalala in town and ready to get down and party to the be...
Memo to the Canes, Ohio State is going to throw it to the Tight Ends next year if they look at this tape from tonight's game

The reason why Cooper hurt is knee is because that field is crap. This is the result of playing 5 or 6 high school football championship games in that stadium that past few weeks. That's insane, just my take.

The reason why Cooper hurt his knee is because the field conditioning is crap. This is the result of playing 5 or 6 high school football championship games in that stadium that past few weeks. That's insane, just my take.

Unlike last year, Jacory is a zero threat to run the ball, therefore is no need for opponents to defend any QB draw or possible bootleg.
Are We Out Of Miracle Whip?
Even before the 2009 season started, newly hired Hurricane offensive coordinator Mark Whipple was crowned the "King of Offense" and was promptly given the keys to the City of Coral Gables and the entire 305. Canes fans everywhere were desperate for anything that even closely resembled an offe...
Props to you Canechic
The Short List: Week 11
They remember what you do in November a famous SEC coach once said and as November ensues only 11 worthy teams remain in the running for the two Shortlist to the San Fernando Valley invitations to be handed out and they rank in worthiness as follows: Florida, Texas, Alabama, Iowa, TCU, Cincinna...
What’s up Legion, haven’t posted in a while. It was a tough loss last night, the Offense got a little too conservative after the Randy Phillips pick and after the 20 yard run by Graig Cooper in overtime. The Defense was simply not aggressive enough. On another note, here is where I believe the departure of those two backup QB’s hurt Jacory. Jacory is not a threat to pull the ball down and run like he did few times last year for fear of getting injured. Maybe it’s me, but has he had a rush for more than 5 yards this year scrabbling out of the pocket? Just my thought, have a great Sunday.
Shot Through The Heart And You're To Blame
U give love a bad name. Miami's stunning, saddening loss to Clemson on Saturday at The Shark broke the hearts of Hurricane fans everywhere. For those who made the trek from near and far to show their love for the team wearing orange and green, all they could do when the game was finally over wa...
The D Line will be fine. Those boys will be ready come Labor Weekend.
Canespace LIVE: Part II
The interview continues... DBJ: Let's talk about the competition at WR. There are fewer seats on the plane or the bus this year. How does that make the team better? LT: "Well competition always makes your team better. When you look at back in the days when we I was on the team, we had com...
BUILD THE CANES A STADIUM, most of these players you named (Hill, Leggett, Moore, T Moss, Freeman, Wright, Charlie Jones, Sam Shields, J. James, DVD, Chavez Grant, ect.) had one similarity. They had excellent freshmen or sophmore seasons but never truly developed after that.
Top 60 Countdown: No. 27, DB Ryan Hill
As we move ahead in our countdown of the Top 60 players at UM, we take a look t No. 27: Defensive back Ryan Hill. The senior has played on both sides of the ball in his career after coming to UM in 2006 with a lot of hype. But has he really ever found a home on the field for his talents? > Wh...
86 you still do have my Legends of the Fall on the list. You have the other Alex and not the real Alex. Lol.
Offense: Jacory Harris
Defense: Sean Spence
Assistant Coach of the Year: Aubrey Hill and those game breaking WR's - barring injuries
Taking The Sting Out Of The Yellow Jackets
During the extremely difficult first four games on the Hurricanes 2009 season schedule, none of them may present a more intriguing matchup than the Canes second game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Last year under then first year coach Paul Johnson, Tech had an excellent season fini...
Calvin is right; LSU did put on a clinic on how to stop GT’s triple option. Take a (big lead) on offense, line up a yard off the ball to prevent those (chop blocks), (penetrate) into the backfield to (cause disruption), (tackle well) and tackle well when available (in space), most of all (cause turnovers). This is a rhythm offense and if their (not in rhythm) then they (can’t execute). Last, if GT is passing or (throwing the ball) then you know you’re dominating the game.
( ) – Things the U failed to do last year in order to be GT.

I believe Todd Chandler is a lock. If Tennessee coaching staff wants to spend valuable resources to help him develop his game so he can play better this fall and also be better prepared to be a Cane when he sign; then, I applaud him for taking advantage of the opportunity. He should also consider taking a trip to USC and utilizing those possible coaching resources there too. It may be a risk, but if his is truly committed to the Canes. Then it can only help us and not hurt us. Just my take.

My legend of the Fall was not added either. Offense: Jacory Harris. Defense: Sean Spence. There's two Alex's on this blog, Alex and myself (Alex D.)
Canes MLB Selected In MLB Draft
The ACC had 56 players selected in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. And, you may be surprised to find out that even after a sub-par season your Miami Hurricanes had a total of 9 players selected that now hope to make "The Show" at some point in their professional MLB careers. Perhaps ...
Ocala, props to you and the wifey.
Raising Canes
This is a picture of infamous Canespacer OcalaCane holding his new (and always beautiful) wife Jeryl. You know OcalaCane as the official Canespace photographer. I know him as Steve Durand. You see Steve and I go way back, in fact all the way back to junior high school in Miami. I met Oca...
Hey congrats to the selectees. What is the requirement become a nominee for next year?
And The Winners Are...
Each year around this time we take stock of who and what has helped us make it through another year of Hurricane sports. Then we hold an election to confirm what we believe to be true. In our second annual celebration of the bloggers that make Canespace what it is we recently completed our our...
Plain and simple if AB wants to get on the field, he will to have to earn it! Those days of promising players playing time died with Coker. Pure competition was what built this program into such a great success.
Player Profile: Arthur Brown
By the time highly rated and hotly recruited linebacker Arthur Brown had left Kansas and arrived on the campus of the University of Miami there were already impossibly high expectations placed upon him. "Sir Arthur" as he was dubbed by adoring Canes fans came to Miami as one of the top prospe...
