This is beautiful! What a wonderful reminder.
A Beautiful Mist
"... What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." - James 4:14 Today would have been my sister's 47th birthday. It is hard to believe that she's been gone for so long. I miss her and at the same time I am so thankful to God that I had such a wonde...
Really well done! Love the design and your fabric choice. Black is always fashionable.
a new summer favourite
i have been feeling a little desperate for some new casual summer clothing and after numerous attempts at lighter and brighter fabric combinations, i settled on a stretch black denim with a grey waistband. summer minimal at best! [and strangely, goes with EVERYTHING in my wardrobe...!] comp...
Love it! And it is certainly addictive, especially this time of year when you want to sit with a blanket and stay warm. I have socks on my 2009 to do list also!
knitting: like a hole in the head
I sure hope all of my good friends had hand knitted dish cloths on their wish lists this year. Ever since Laura made me those socks, I haven't been able to shake the wanting to learn to knit. I need another hobby like I need a hole in the head. Nevertheless, here I am...knitting away, making...
Gorgeous! Congrats!!
Couldn't Wait to Share!
I just got word that they're on the way from Australia! A joint effort between Cathy Penton Design (charms) and Bari J. (art)! I'll let you know as soon as they arrive.
I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but I love this post. I love how you make even the silly little things very human for us all. Everyone can relate to this post in one way or the other.
Thank you.
broiled fruit (that sounds weird)
These are from several weeks ago—back when there were peaches. It was a recipe I was super excited about. You take peaches (or nectarines) and half them, broil them, and add a honey balsamic vinegar glaze. Then top with a little creme fraiche, which I had on hand from my homemade experiment. I...
Love October! Hope you are doing well. I'm keeping your friend Elizabeth in my thoughts!
My Favorite Time of Year
When we woke up this morning it was beautifully foggy, and I took my regular walk with Isabelle, our yellow Lab. It does this in the fall, thick gorgeous fog turns to bright sunshine by midmorning. I started the walk wishing the time away because I had a million things to get to back here, but ...
You look great in that super hat. The button is fabulous!
verity i say unto you
Months ago I downloaded and printed off an Ysolda hat pattern. I came across it, quite by accident Friday night and so the plotting began. What yarn could I use for Verity? I dug through various stashes scattered between rooms of my house and found two cakes of Classic Elite Montera in a dusty...
I have to tell you, this post is my idea of heaven -- especially the photo.
family time
Florida beach at sunset with a good book. I've been operating on Family Time this past week and a half. What with the visit to Florida to see Patrick's family and the arrival of my parents in North Carolina for a 10-day stay, I've had precious little time to spend in front of this here compu...
So true! I love friendships like that. I am blessed with a handful of sisters here who I couldn't imagine living without.
Summer is...friends
Summer is also friends who have husbands gone often like I do. Friends whose kiddos are bouncing off the walls right about 4:45 p.m. like mine. Friends who call up in a frazzled mess asking if I have planned dinner yet and are happy when I say "no", sharing in their exasperation. Friends who ...
Oooh, those are fantastic. I wish I had jumped on the Gocco bandwagon years ago when the supplies were more readily available.
I hope you are doing well in your new home!
spring at home
I've been thinking this week about spring at home- which must be nearly there- because our days are certainly drawing in and there's a definite chill in the air. My favourite things about this time in NZ are the magnolia blossoms, and that thin spring sunlight shining on them. And the rain. T...
Oooh, I think the best flavor of summer is a tomato warm off the vine. What a wonderful treat and blessing for your family!
Summer is...our garden
Just thought I would share a few shots from last night in the garden. It was a perfect evening...cool-er temperatures, and a nice breeze... ...picking the days bounty each evening, summer squash, japanese eggplant, red peppers, yellow peppers, slicing tomatoes, yellow pear tomatoes, one wee j...
Oh my goodness! I am so envious. That is a fabulous mural!
welcome mural
Something exciting happened at my library. We got a WPA mural hung on the first floor, back in the stacks. It used to be in the old post office on Main Street before that building was re-purposed and taken over by our CBS affiliate. Then it was moved to the University where it hung, neglected...
I would very much love that book. Thanks for organizing the giveaway!
Artist to Artist :: inspiration & a giveaway
We've been hugely inspired of late by the book Artist to Artist: 23 Major Illustrators Talk to Children About Their Art. I had originally picked it up at the library a year ago and loved it, but never quite had the time to share it with the kids as I had hoped. And then, my attention to it wa...
Love the hair! It looks so great. How does it smell with that new organic shampoo mixture? I'd certainly consider giving up Pantene for something more environmentally conscious.
things i love
This shot's for my Mom, who's been dying to see my new haircut and the freshly painted walls in my soon-to-be studio. Wam bam badabing! Two birds down. First, the hair. Love it. I've had short hair ever since I became a francophile and spent a semester skipping along the cobblestone streets n...
Boy or girl, this TRex is going to be one beautiful baby. YAhoo for healthy results!
it's a...winky?
Last Tuesday was something else. Went to Kingsport, a small city about 15 miles west of my city to have that level 2 ultrasound. It was probably the best medical experience I've had since I've found myself with child. The office's exterior looked old, but inside, it was tastefully decorated. T...
They are very sweet!
Elsita goodness!
I ordered these from the fabulously talented Miss Elsita of Elsa Mora. I have wanted her work for ages so when I saw the paper doll I knew I had to have it. While I was at it I grabbed this beautiful print to go with my original painting from Ali J. Don't you just love the juxtaposition ...
Wow Bari! The design is just gorgeous and I love the fabrics you selected. Nice work!
And Speaking of Babies...
Look who just arrived. Click here for details.
Oh my goodness! What a blessing. That is just wonderful!
Twins???
No, my goodness, no. Not me! My sister! Lucky girl is preggers w/two little boogers. She always said she wanted four so she's off to a roaring start don't you think? I told her that she must be having twins because God doesn't want Mom and I fighting over who gets to hold the baby. More good ne...
God bless you Eren. Thank you for going. Thank you for sharing these photos. Thank you for reminding us that we can each do better every single day to help our fellow man. As a way to honor Christ, at a minimum.
Nicaragua: part two
I returned late Friday night from Nicaragua...feeling worn out and very heavy. As I stepped off the plane, I noticed that my feet and my flip flops were still filthy with Nicaragua dirt despite trying to wash them off with baby wipes during our layover in Miami. The boys welcomed me in the be...
Preciosa! Y espero que su viaje esta perfecto. Mando saludos a su familia y tambien mis queridos Nicaraguenses.
built by me
I know, I know...what the heck am I doing here...posting about sewing...when I need to be packing for Nicaragua and cutting up sheets for the rag rug project. To be honest, I haven't even begun to pack. But shhhh! Don't tell anyone. But quickly, I had to share the shirt I made a week or so a...
