Stay positive and patient -- eventually you'll get everything you want. I can feel it. Can you?
F the Quote of the day! and... F debt!
So I'm not gonna do a quote of the day unless I feel like it! So there! I would rather write when I want to write and not be forced to think of something every single day! Some days are just more boring than others. Today happened to be a shit crap day. Work sucked, I lost a job because of some ...
So weird to see a D&D session in "public". Usually, my brother and our nerdy friends would be in the dark basement, playing by the light of the Commodore 64 blue screen.
But I have to mention: No Dew or Fritos on the table? nerd.fail.
in which i get to hurl polyhedrons
From left to right: Me, Gabe, Kurtz, Tycho. This was pretty much as fantastic as I thought it would be, and I'm very proud of myself for never blowing a save versus "OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE I GET TO DO THIS" the whole time we played. Check this out: we had so much fun, Jerry says that if th...

These "lemme brain dump and link to everything cool you should know about but don't" posts cause my Firefox to go into Tab Overload and usually cost me a few bucks. This post cost me $18.95 for the shirt. Damn you, Wheaton.
it is pitch dark
I'm wearing this awesome T-shirt today, in honor of the activation of the Large Hadron Collider, which hasn't destroyed the Earth yet (or ever, you anti-science mouth breathers) but won't really get a chance to send crowbar stock skyrocketing until October when it actually crashes stuff into oth...

No one has audio of this? Do I have to do everything myself around here?
*sigh* Fine. I'm firing up my Sirius.
itchy feet and fading smiles
So apparently Jerry O'Connell was on the Howard Stern Show this morning, and claimed that I bullied him when we made Stand By Me. I haven't heard the interview, so I don't have context beyond, "Hey, Jerry says you bullied him when you made that movie," and normally, I'd just laugh this sort of ...

The most encouraging aspect of the whole enterprise (ahem) is that ST is still well-respected enough, as a franchise, to warrant a studio throwing some bucks at it for another go.
Hollywood, there still may be hope for ye yet.
"reinventing?" uh-oh. i'm not sure how i feel about this
Wired says that JJ Abrams promises to "reinvent" Star Trek: "Effects for Star Trek have never, ever been done like this," says Abrams, who credits George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic for the visual fireworks. Abrams was fanatical about Star Wars as a kid. But Star Trek? Not so much. Di...

Two stickers on the back of my car:
"Who died and made you root?"
"Nice marmot."
the loneliest number
I have a sticker on my car that says, "There is no place like 127.0.0.1" I get to explain it to a lot of people, and I'm usually rewarded with a blank look, followed by a pitying look, followed by parents holding on tightly to their children as they move away slowly at first, then quickly, neve...

When other actors ask me about voice-work, I am quick to tell them that it is the most exclusive, competitive part of showbiz. No, not the most lucrative. Not the most glamorous. But damn competitive.
Ok, it *does* pay OK. ;-)

regarding voice acting . . .
Over at Joystiq, Griffin McElroy wrote about Keith David's growing celebrity in video games. He's probably best known for playing the Arbiter in Halo 2 and Halo 3, but he's also in Mass Effect and a bunch of other extremely popular games. McElroy takes this condescending, dismissive tone toward ...

I did NOT tell "Blackie" to spam your blog, but I LOVE that a listener plugged EggRadio!. Once we get back to 1,200 simultaneous listeners, I'll hit you up for podcasts. See you at the next Subject Line Here...
a day of silence for internet radio
Inspired by the fun I had with RFB #9 (.nam daed ,no em nruT) I fell down the ephemeral audio rabbit hole on Sunday night, and was up until nearly three in the morning picking up all sorts of strange and wonderful audio for . . . well, I'm not quite sure what for, exactly. I may put together an ...

I always thought that the Traveler had a crush on Crusher. I saw the episode on Spike the other day where Wesley's experiment puts Beverly in a warp bubble. The Traveler came back to help and you could totally tell that he had been pining for Wesley -- just waiting for the opportunity to come back. Creepy. (But a pretty cool ep)
TNG Review: Where No One Has Gone Before
I spent most of today watching Where No One Has Gone Before and writing up a review of it for TV Squad. I really, really like this episode, and I think it's one of the better ones we did in the first season, especially after the trainwrecks that were The Last Outpost, Naked Now, and Code of Hono...

Every time Wil mispronounces "interesting", you have to take a drink!
Radio Free Burrito Episode 3 (fixed. again.)
This episode of The Burrito is the longest, yet, weighing in at 37 minutes. It was so long, in fact, that I had to break it into two parts in garage band, and use audacity to join them together. However, it's relatively small; just 15.2MB. I listened to it in headphones and through my Powerbook'...

i am the modren man
I had to use Anne's car to drive the kids to school this morning, and when I turned it on, her XM radio was tuned to the 80s station. Ryan hopped into the car, and though I was seriously rocking out to NuShooz, grabbed the radio and changed it. "What do you think you're doing?" I said. "Changing...
