I am one of the ones who LOVES Crocs. I tried on the Mary Jane and I loved it!! I am having problems with my heels, so I don't know how they would hold up over the course of an entire day, but would totally buy a pair.
One thing I have been really proud about since school started is how I have kept up on homework. I realize it's only been 7 days, but still, you have to take your little victories where you can. Last year, Princess was in Title 1 reading for part of the year. I had a hard time with this - I mean, I'm an English teacher and I have a daughter with a reading problem? She really benefitted from the program and is a pretty strong reader now. When she can concentrate. :) Last week, we began our reading with a... Continue reading

Hope you feel better soon!! I have carpal tunnel and it is NO FUN.
As you probably already know, our little adhd kiddos sometimes don't know exactly how to act. If they are like mine, they a lot of times don't know how to act. LOL One tactic that is working well with The Princess is modeling. When I talk to her about a particular behavior, we discuss what she should do. For example, one place we do modeling is with social situation at school. She has a hard time finding friends to play with, so we talk about what she can say and do. It goes something like this: Me: So, what do... Continue reading

Really? Do you have a diagnosis from a doctor? The school should NOT be giving you a hard time. What does the teacher say?
Toggle Commented Aug 23, 2010 on 504 Meeting Prep at Mommy ADD
Today we have our first 504 meeting at the new school. This is very daunting to me, because I am so used to everyone knowing our kids. I joked with the school counselor that the meeting shouldn't take too long, but in hindsight this is probably not true. How can it be? I have a lot to tell them. To get ready, the first thing I did was get my kids ADD binders cleaned out. I made sure I had all of their accommodation plans available, their test scores and notes from the previous year. This meant I had to... Continue reading

Thanks for the comment! We do the same, but even that doesn't work. We had to cancel her horseback lessons this week and she was upset about it for about 7 minutes. We'll keep working at it! :)
Toggle Commented Aug 15, 2010 on Is your kid ODD? at Mommy ADD
And no, I don't mean odd, though it probably fits. I mean Oppositional Defiance Disorder. I have suspected that the Princess has had it for a while, but with the way things have gone the past week, we have officially left the realm of *possibly* and stepped fully into holyhellthissucksandwhoisthischild. The thing that make ODD so difficult (other than getting the OPP song stuck in my head) is that traditional behavioral mod techniques do. not. work. She doesn't care if she loses a privilege, oh well. Sitting in Time Out? No biggie, I'll just scrape at the wall. So, the... Continue reading

I almost just peed. I always thought those directions were stupid as hell, which proves that I've actually read them before.

Thanks for the comments ladies! And Eva, you are my new best friend for suggesting that I am actually young. ;)
Thanks for the feedback! I think when kids get older is when families really find it tough to bring everyone together.
Happy Friday Everyone! Because of the ProBlogger/SITS 31 DBBB challenge, I have been exposed to a bunch of fun new blogs.Others listed her are ones that I learned about from Twitter. Either way, they are all funny and you should... Continue reading

Oh, man - you are sooooo lucky! I would love to win this because my kids are OBSESSED with this series. My 7yo has a secret clue notebook that she carries around on her "travels" and my son is still gloating because he is 3 books ahead of me in the series.

Does your family sit down to the dinner table each night? Several nights a week? Never? Family dinners are one of the most important factors to a kid's success in school and in life (Time Magazine even says so!). However,... Continue reading

So, about the past week. I don't even know how to explain it. I had a really rough week (more mentally than physically) and of course, the first thing I skipped was my gym time. Despite this fact, I lost... Continue reading

So, last week's Menu Plan Monday went pretty good. Not perfect, but good. This week will take some work to get back on track, since we were out of town and didn't grocery shop yesterday. Here's the plan: Bratwurst Turkey... Continue reading
