Thank for posting this. I went straight to Amazon and pre-ordered a copy.
I didn't know Jim had passed away until Sunday morning. My husband was looking at the news on his computer when I heard him say, "OH!" and I knew - even before he told me - I knew just by the sound of his voice. I went numb. I'd been expecting this any day of course, like waiting for the other shoe to drop, hoping and praying every day that this would not be The Day. But, it was. I haven't stopped crying yet. Oh, I'm not as bad as I was the first couple of days, but I still feel that my world is forever changed - and not for the better. It seems darker and colder now that Jim's warmth and radiance are no longer in it. It seems many others feel the same way. I can't even begin to imagine how Jim's family is feeling - his wife, Lois, and daughters Kim and Gigi. Losing this wonderful human being who could light and warm a room just by his presence must be overwhelming. James Garner has been my hero ever since Maverick in 1957 when I was 13. It's been a lot of years, and I'm sure I'll never find anyone that I admire as much as I have Jim Garner over all that time. REAL heroes are in very short supply....
