Have you ever seen the movie Patton? Remember the scene were Patton defeats Rommel in North Africa? Observing the victory he says "Rommel you magnificent bastard, I READ YOUR BOOK!" Patton already knew what Rommel was going to do because he studied Rommel's strategies that were available in print.
It's smarter to read books than to burn them. That includes the books of your enemy.

Did you even read my post? I said "There is never a good day to burn a book, and there is never sufficient reason to burn any book anytime. Not because it offends people or increases the risk of a terrorist retaliation, but simply because burning books is just wrong."
I never said anything close to “don’t protest violence, or it might get violent”. In fact, If you were at all familiar with this blog you'd know that Islam is criticized here regularly. I just think that this is the worst way of doing it.
Burning books may not kill anyone, but it destroys knowledge. I believe that the Koran itself is our best argument against Islamists and jihad.
