Beautiful!!!
Lifeguard Towers
I miss lifeguard towers almost as much as I miss the beach. They sort of remind me of abandoned houses. I just love this series by Amir Zaki, don't you? Who knew there were so many colorful, innovatively designed lifeguard towers out there. When vacant, they were ...
Oh, these are just so cute!!!
DIY - Mid Century Bottle Cap Clock Magnets
My fridge NEEDS some little mid century clock magnets! This is such a cute and easy DIY project by graphic designer, Jessica Jones. Instructions: Wash, dry, and spray paint the bottle caps white; Download and cut out Jessica's retro clock graphics; Brush the cap surface with ...
I bought a Canon G10 about 6 months ago and I'm pretty happy with it. Though I'm taking a photography class right now and finding out it doesn't do *everything* (aperture range is only 2.8-8.0, can't set the shutter to always opening, etc.). But still a very good all around camera.
Stuff to do in a hotel

You should be so proud of yourself. I literally gasped when I saw what you created. It's wonderful!
Gwen Marston Report #2: Abstract Quilts in Solids
The thing about sewing is that a little here and a little there and sooner or later you have a quilt! This one isn't done, but I sure did get a nice start and had so much fun again. Can't say enough good stuff about Gwen's class. This photo was taken by Jessica (of jmbmommy) who was ...
So many of these are great, I might have to buy myself half a dozen if I don't win one! I love Travelgirl, Glass of Wine, Walking Backwards, I Did Not Just Say That, Identity, and When In Rome!

the hairdos are spectacular -- especially the blond (green?) one. did you stitch that to her head to get that pattern? so fabulous!
the competition is tough
It's a beautiful warm sunny day and we're holding tryouts for this year's maypole dance. I think this looks like a good bunch. They've got nice chemistry.
Wow, this photo is so adorable!! Apparently when my college roommate was little she would ONLY wear dresses. Wear do they get these preferences so early on??
no new easter dress for this one
I couldn't get dress sewing motivated since whenever she has a chance she strips out of her girl clothes and beelines for O's closet. Think she'll be the only girl in a star wars shirt at the egg hunt?
Before I saw what you'd written I looked at the photo and immediately thought of the dressed my grandmother made for my sister and I for the bicentennial in 1976! Thanks for bringing back some old memories!
sewing for kids is a good thing
Happy Friday! Here's Miss Delia playing in clothes that Grammie (we call my mom Grammie) made for me circa 1976, as if you couldn't tell. Oh the patchwork. It's a cheater cloth, but still. The colors, so very Holly Hobby cool. Grammie has this huge box full of clothes that she sewed for me...
Oh my gosh! We had that Wolfie book when I was a kid (over 30 years ago!). Nice score!
resales
I laugh when people say they're envious of my thrifting luck. Here in the suburbs of Chicago the thrifting is sparse and crappy. You have to cast a wide net (garage sales, church sales, kids clothing/toy sales, thrift stores) and really dig. And dig some more. Dig until the child or spouse or un...
This is so hard, since I try to put these sort of things out of my mind (and I have done so many less-than-brilliant things while sewing...). But just about two weeks ago I was trying to make a shower cap from a tutorial and while stretching the fabric to attach the elastic I actually managed to catch my finger under the machine needle. Wow. Hurt like crazy and there was a LOT of blood (none on my project, miraculously!). Turned out not to be a bad injury in the end, but I initially thought I might need some stitches! I would think after sewing for 20 years I wouldn't do things like that. At least it's the first time I've done that and not the 10th!

Oh my gosh. This REALLY reminds me of the wallpaper my sister and I had in our bedroom in the 70s.... Fun!
wallpaper
It's sunny today. Hotdog! So much easier to stay positive when the sun's shining in. Yesterday's mail brought me this vintage wallpaper I'd ordered ages ago and forgotten about. I was going to use it for a background for photo shoots but after seeing it in person I love it so much I might need t...
Thank you so much for posting the link to the Lace Heaven. I think I could cruise that site for an hour at least. So much crazy stuff there that I have never seen anywhere else (underwires for bras??). Love it!! And a tutorial for you on making underwear would really rock, but no pressure. :)
I am showing my underwear, again.
So, I made this sleep set and am now kind of obsessed with sewing my own undergarments. This is cotton jersey with just a wee it of stretch, like 10% Lycra, I'd say. It's a bit thicker then the standard underwear jersey, which is nice. I made this pair in a boy-short style. I used a pair...
good-ness is one of my favs! I'd love some more fabric from her (to go with what I've bought in the past). :)

I was on the verge of clicking over to buy these when I read farther to see you were giving some away! Awesome! For stains I pretty much put Stain Stick on everything. I found it in college and got out just about everything and on top of that, I could apply it and then let the clothes sit for a week or two until I got around to washing them, and the stains would still come out. The only thing I can think off hand that it doesn't work that well on is ink. Well, and tea stains, but nothing takes those out!
going green and healthy:: with my laundry:: part II
The heat wave has moved on and my brain has finally awaked from its heat-induced coma. Man! that heat and humidity just sucked all the life out of me....but storms rumbled through last night bringing sweet relief, better attitudes and a beautiful day. I've been meaning to get back to the discu...
