I honestly can't even tell you how much I hate (and consequently avoid for way too long) sewing on patches. I eventually started using fabric glue. Which, incidentally, only works if you strip off all the iron-on glue on the back of the patch. Which is just as bad as sewing them on. Which reminds me... Zach's Boy Scout uniform is still bare. Ugh.

Soooo grateful you guys are okay. And so sad you had (and still have) to go through this. I have a few everyday pictures of that yard on my computer, that I'll be sure to give you once we dig out of our own craziness. Love you all.

Z's a believer all the way. A little clueless, truthfully. And he asks me lots of detailed questions about old St. Nick (not questioning questions, just "I need to know every stinkin' detail about everything" questions... you know the kind), which I answer as vaguely as I can or just ask him what he thinks. Because I kind of think he should maybe be at the questioning stage, so that it doesn't get shocked into him one of these days. And yeah, I'm pretty sure one of his friends is going to laugh in his face either this year or next. Ah well. Growing up.

We love homeschooling too. I definitely learn as much as my son does, and I'm much more interested in learning everything than I ever was in my school days. We're about to start an "explorer's logbook" that will house info, notes, drawings, photos, questions, observations, etc. about the world around us. I'm so excited!

That nursery is always at the top of my mind when decorating, for my son's room, and really for the rest of the house as well. I love it so much it hurts.

Oh my goodness. I love it. I want him to make a whole children's album now! I have the Sandra Boynton version of the song too... we love all of her albums... but this is much more my style. way to go, Dan.

Your advent calendar is super-cute. I love that the "treats" are all activity-based... that's what we do too. Wow... that theater looks amazing! Jealous of you all and your very fancy girl watching your fancy dancing in your fancy theater. I'm going to be getting The Nutcracker from the library and hoping I can convince one of my boys to sit down and watch it with me. The chances are not good.

Oh, yes, oh ,yes. How I love me some Little House. They're on my list of books I must reread at least every couple of years. I've just been reading the Little House Christmas Treasury, too, which just shares all the Christmas chapters in one volume. And wow, it just eases any tension right away and makes me feel so happy and so motivated to create beautiful, simple traditions for my family.

Santa brings one gift and also fills the stocking. We usually have 3-5 gifts from us as well, but this year we are just doing two... one from me, and one from my husband. We're trying to simplify and also make it more personal.

Most of our stuff made it out of storage yesterday, so my house is currently decorated for the holidays in typical eight-year-old fashion. I'll have to do a bit of rearranging... the cluttered look is stressing me out a bit. I have plans for creating a peaceful woodland scene of our own. How long do you think that will last?
