I've made a personal rule that I'm not allowed to think of a shape first before searching for patterns - too much disappointment. And, I love collecting patterns! I worked at Jo-Ann's for a while and my favorite thing was looking at the new patterns as I rearranged the drawer. During one move, I left my patterns behind temporarily and I had to have them shipped to me. It made me so sad not to be able to look through them and imagine the possibilities!
The Calming Technique

I have a whole series of Brooke Shields branded patterns (I think they were Simplicity) from that period - including Brooke Shields clothes for Barbie.
Today's Pattern Story (and Sale): Simplicity 5995
"I don't care if you are taking my picture, I'm going to keep pouting until my hair is as big as those girls in the illustration! Also, don't you think I'm a little too backlit for a shirt this sheer?" "And I do so look like Brooke Shields!" [today's pattern courtesy of Kathleen at Little Hunt...
