Further to this morning's thread, this should help CCHQ decide where to target and where not to.

I agree about the suspicious timing - what has he been promised? Cabinet seat? Lords?

Amazingly he has disappeared from conservatives.com already - a message not to get on the wrong side of the party, perhaps?

Iain Dale for Cherie's signed copy of the Hutton Report.

Do any A-Listers live in the E Hants seat? Why not have ONE seat where the whole list gets to apply and see who the association chooses - A Lister, local or just your run-of-the-mill candidate. A naughty thought...

Equally to the Point: Actually, no I didn't apply and no GY is more local to me that NN is. I live a whoping 14 miles from GY and it is further than that to the southern point of the North Norfolk seat. I also live on a direct route to GY whereas getting to NN is always tricky via the City roads. The disappointing 5 applicants for this seat shows what happens under the A-List system I'm afriad. North Norfolk deserved more.

Ian Oakley is a fantastic campaigner and has a real record of working this seat. I'm sure he'd make an excellent candidate and MP for this seat.

Does anybody know why seats are coming up in the order that they are? Any self respecting A Lister who wants to be an MP via a safe or marginal seat won't be applying for some of these!

Ah, does that means we have a new rider in the Mid Norfolk sweepstake?

Plotter - are you suggesting that a few people have chosen deliberately weak candidates?

I have no problems with defectors per say, but rather like a few other A-Listers I doubt that the hard work has been put in where it is required - yet. Perhaps Mr Christi will be left wanting on the A List when selections are complete? He has zip chance in Crawley - isn't Henry Smith, their candidate who narrowly lost, back on the A List?
