I found the section on nursing homes quite facinating. In Florida patients are scored on a rug rate. The higher the score the more money they will receive from medicaid. that higher rug rate will also help determine the length of stay. if there were bonuses for early discharging healthy patients maybe there would be less fraud.

Situational values have taken over our community from top to bottom. Maybe it is our own consumerism that has lead so many to situational values. We are a society of people who want everything faster, better and more,more,more.Maybe government and business are supplying us with exactly what we have asked for.

Consultants are always right; all you have to do is ask them and they will gladly tell you. Somewhere in the organization, they decided to hire a consultant and tell you how to improve. Often, we take it as an attack; that is, the advice of a consultant. I have learned that all the ideas I can evaluate may make me a better director, even if it is the advice of a consultant. Alan
