By any chance will you be offering "Notebook Quilts" workshop in Houston??
What a morning.
I've been trying to ring the USA since 4.00 this morning making travel arrangements. It's just 11.15 am and finally I completed the booking. I was booking accommodation for Houston 2012. DONE. It's my one panic event of the year getting a room at the Hilton !!!!! It feels good making travel arra...
How very generous of you to share this! The instructions are clearly written and illustrated. The pattern looks wonderful. I like how you gave us the inspiration for the pattern. Mucho gracias!
Looking at a new format. Free pattern.
This is my new web site. I've been playing with I Books so that I can produce patterns for sale on the web. However, this is an experiment. I finished this pattern in I Books and I have added it to the web page as a PDF. You can download it, or just plain look at it. I will have I Books throu...
I can see these as a theme for a workshop. Will these go in a book? or exhibit? or some other special project?
Notebook series.
I've been working on another of the Notebook series quilts. They're are a lot of fun to do. This time I decided to use the Bottom Line by Superior for the black thread. It worked well, I could get a really fine line. The flags are colored with Tsukineko inks. The blue and red lines of the notebo...
I got a chuckle out of the comment for the nasty secretary! Just wanted to comment today as I've been following along and appreciate that you are taking the time to share your process. It's very inspiring.

How did you get to where you are.?
How did you get to where you are? Someone asked me that recently in an interview. You know you never really think of those things.. Life just happens. So I had a little time to reflect. In my 60's now, I'm a genuine baby boomer, I'll never wear a cardigan, or my slippers to the shops... or even...

Why have I added another Frida Quilt to the blog... It's an older version and a collage... but I visited Frida's house today. However, the internet is awfully slow tonight so it's the best I can do...
After watching the videos, I pretty much work the way you described which is to layer as you go. I am now to the point on my experimental cloth where the edges on the perimeter are made up of various patches of fabric so it's irregular and I'm trying to decide whether to trim, add a border edge or just let the irregular patches of cloth define the finished piece. In your videos, you basically have a cut of fabric on the bottom layer define the overall border. JUst wondering if anyone else is dealing with border edge issues. Maybe that's a topic in itself for another time. My decision is to put the cloth aside for awhile and work on something else. Thanks for the inspiration.

p.s. wasn't the royal wedding a wonderful diversion to watch. And the dress.... oh to be there when that was being stitched!!!
a bit about Layers

So I have decided on a bit of direction for the crazy sampler. View Video At the same time, I have been wondering what to do about the background. audio file in case you see no player above ...just two strands of some turquoise. audio file in case you see no p...
It's taking a little getting used to having bits and pieces of sewn cloth lying about. I usually start and finish one piece at a time when it comes to my art quilts. Often I visualize the finished piece in my head before I begin. Not so with the whispering hearts. A good challenge to break habits.
Where am I ?
So.... audio file in case you see no player above My new sketches, which I always continue with, are focused on some embroidery ideas to fill in the gaps. audio file in case you see no player above It's a holiday week for a lot of folks. I will be a bit thinner with...

Goodness, it's late and I need to go to bed. However, its been a lovely day. Thanks everyone. At lunch time I walked the floor and it was absolutely packed. I think there are about 400 booths, so it would take a day or so to see everything... then there are the quilts!!! Of course I took...
