I have not visited in awhile so I didn't know. So sorry about your sister. I can tell she was much loved, and she will now be watching over you. xo
Saying a Final Goodbye to Sister Virginia
For those of you who have known me for a while, you may remember that I'm the baby sister of five sisters, if one can call a 77-year-old a baby. On Sunday night at 7:45 p.m. my dear sister Virginia Annette Streur Estrada, passed away quietly in Las Vegas after bravely fighting Parkinsons Diseas...
I knew Pink would love it, Lisa. She is so excited...just read and see. And I know in my heart it makes you feel good too, to be the cause of that love and excitement. You are loved girlie. Sending you lotsa hugs, but think of this....a little mollycoddling is sometimes nice, too. Why not? xoxoxo
An Apron Tied to Friendship
There are times in life when you're feeling "off" (especially when you have issues with anxiety) and you don't go out much..... it's the solice you need to just get your thoughts and your breath under control. Sadly there are times some friends cannot understand this and feel you are doing some...
Nope! You are not the only one. I am checking often. I even check the eagles to see if they came home to get a snack. I will be excited to watch the osprey chicks fledge. Mom is sooooooo beautiful!
It won't be long!
Our baby chicks are gathering up their strength for their first flights. How exciting to watch our chicks prepare to conquer the sky! Yesterday one took practice flights across the nest, flapping wings with such gusto we thought we were going to see our first fledge! They are also perching on ...
Magnificent birds. How lucky we are to have observed this family of eagles. Appreciate Alcoa for being dedicated to bringing us this view of Mother Nature in action.
To Fledge, Or Not to Fledge?
That is the question. I have not seen the eaglets outside of the nest tree yet. That does not mean it has not happened, just that I have not seen it. I did visit the nest today and saw one of the parents in the nest and the three eaglets on various branches of the nest tree. They were much furth...
I love this cam. What a beautiful family. Thanks Alcoa.

Our Ospreys enjoyed a beautiful warm breezy day. I was able to grab a photo of Oliveea and her three chicks looking out at the Narrows dam. After her young fledge (about 2 months old), they may return to the nest for feeding and roosting for another week. Did you know that as an osprey matures...
Could you post how far behind the others this one left in the nest is? I mean hatching? Regrettably, I wasn't here for the first days. Also, I can't seem to load the Yadkin Osprey cam today. Does anyone know if there is a problem there, or perhaps it's my computer. I'll miss these guys when they all fly! Thanks.
A Hot Sunday
Both the heat and the humidity are supposed to be heading up today in advance of a cold front. Expect a brezzy day and perhaps a few storms this evening. I wanted to share there is a new way for those of you in the Quad Cities to get a glimpse of the nest. That is from the new extension of the R...
Yesterday when I logged in I had the zoom view. Later it was back to the closeup, and this morning it is still the closeup. Don't know why my view is different than others. No matter. I'll take either one! Love these beautiful birds.
It is another breezy day here at the Narrows dam...
It is another breezy day here at the Narrows dam with temperatures in the low 80’s. With weather like this Oliveea doesn't have to worry about her babies getting too hot. When temperatures are high, Oliveea will shield her chicks with her wings. This allows them to stay cool in the shade! Oscar...
Love this Lisa. Her locks are lovely but her eyes are hauntingly beautiful! xoxo
Art Revisited
A previous drawing from my art journal painted over using digital painting. Love, Lisa XOXO
AWESOME and beautiful, both photos and thoughts. A treasure! xoxoxo
Dune grass beckoned by twilight.
This girl loves dune grass. The soft swaying hush in early evening's light, a chorus of lush green blades beautifully serenading each wavelength of dipping golden sun. The wind sweeps through in her ritualistic dance, swirling and twirling with each long arched blade as though it were a l...
Oh my gosh I had forgotten all about those strawberry sodas. In glass bottles! I did coke floats. Made from fountain drinks. And I know where there is an old timey type drug store with a soda fountain and large black and white tiles on the floor and high stools and a milk shake machine. xoxoxo
Bubbling Over
A couple more pages from the journal, with no real explanation, other than some things floating around in my mind: - Wow, this is the last week of August, already - summer's drawing to a close, fall's just around the corner. I love fall - cooler weather, more flattering wardrobe -- but this year...
I like that little boat with the canopy too. I think I could take a nice nap in it...bobbing up and down.....and listening to the water lap, lap, lap up the sides, and snoring....oh, sorry, I dozed off there. Nice sunset pic you took! xoxoxo
Whatever Floats Your Boat...
That's what the theme seemed to be this past weekend, while celebrating K's birthday. Saturday, we went to brunch with the fam, then decided to drive down to the beach - which seemed to be a popular idea with pretty much everyone else in Southern California, that day. But oh, how I love the beac...
Your story is a wonderful incentive for others who have medical problems and may want to just give up. You already know I luv ya! Keep working on that book, glitter girl! xoxoxoxo judie
Crafting My Way through Brain Surgery and Epilepsy by Angela
I was different than most of the other children. At the age of 11yrs I was diagnosed with epilepsy. The way that I have always coped with it is through some form of art. At first it was theatre I was not on-stage, I worked back-stage. I helped but later I gained the confidence to try on-stag...
What a fabulous idea, making your own country. That was obviously lotsa fun. You are so creative with your girls, Tink! And now, watersplashing, bubbleblowing, and, um, maybe a watermelon seed spitting contest? I wanna play too. xoxoxo
Summer Country
When the girls were here a couple-three weeks ago, we tried creating our own countries (an idea I saw somewhere on the internet, the coordinates of exactly where, now escapes me -- though at the time I read about it, it reminded me of a page I remembered from one of the 'Uncoloring Books,' B had...
Oh Tinky Winky. Were you doing some kind of under/overhanded break.....dancing? Oh, that wasn't even funny. Ouch! You can slap me..well, maybe not. Love you! xoxoxo
On the Other Hand...
I didn't intend to take a break...or, for that matter, have a break. either. Remember a couple-three weeks ago when I tried to fly - sorta like this (only not quite so gracefully, and with a laundry basket for a prop)? Followed by a handstand landing - much, much less gracefully tha...
Adorable story, Tink. Only "the Shadow" knows!
Tuning In
Tuning in to the mystery of life, today. Or is it tuning out? Hard to tell at the crystal cat-hedral, as K has dubbed it. Meant to show you this picture last Sunday, but my little flight trip pre-empted it. Since the girls arrival has been temporarily delayed till a little later, I figure I migh...
Many times I have been uplifted by Violette's art and by her words. Numerous times, especially in the last year, I have gone to her website and come away with a more positive outlook on whatever life had tossed to me that day. She has been like a rope thrown to me when I've gone "overboard". She is always wanting to be an inspiration in someone's life, and she certainly has been in mine. Not just art, because I was an artist before I "met" her in cyberland, but her ideas about life have filtered into my own being and carried me along. She is a definite influence in my art journaling, which I think everyone should try. Many times I've gone to her website feeling eyore, and come away feeling like a smiley face. These small pieces of art she did for her nephew reveal what is truly in her heart.
Journal Bliss: Creative Prompts to Unleash your Inner Eccentric by Violette
Just over a year ago my nephew Adam was paralyzed in a tragic Rugby accident – he was only 19 years old at the time. You can imagine how something so terrible like that would affect his parents, sister and family not to mention my young nephew. Waiting in the hospital with my distraught sis...
I couldn't post on your "Happy Freakin' Bench Monday, Ya'll" post so I'll do it here. Girl, you are just having waaaaaaaay too much fun!!! LOL Enjoy. Your enthusiasm is infectious. xoxoxo
I'm off for *two weeks* of wild abandon!
Today, today I feel like a nut! Feeling stretched! Stressed! Taking a wee break, I'll come back after NY (in two weeks) with some fresh photos, ideas, philosophies, and recipes! Feedback on the Turkey Fajita Casserole? For those that made it did you love it? If I owe you a visit, know th...
Beautiful wedding. The mother of the bride looks exceptionally lovely. That photo of the six ladies standing in their long gowns looks like a Botticelli garden painting. Thanks for sharing! xoxoxo
Scenes From a Wedding...
At last - amazingly, even before their first anniversary! What is the first anniversary, anyway? It used to be something like aluminum, then I think they updated it to tupperware or something...nowadays, it'd probably be 'Apple' for a mac or an iphone, or maybe just 'software' so it could be one...
I so agree with you about journaling relieving stress. It keeps your mind concentrated on the writing or art, and off the stressful events. And when the page is finished, the peace seems to last and continue to flow into your self for awhile, and makes you just a little stronger and able to face the next stressor more easily.
The Stress Connection and the Craft Solution by Nancy Monson
Who isn’t stressed these days? Be it our finances, our jobs, our families, our weight, our health, there’s a lot to get worked up about. Of course we know that too much stress is bad for us, but how do we lighten the load? Sure, there are the standard stress-reducing techniques: exercise, ...
Beautiful Ode to a Tree, Lisa.
Love your bracelets, too!
I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree
When we first moved in our house it had 2 big orange trees on the side, they produced quite a bit of fruit, so much so that people came from all over to knock on the door asking to pick some. I always said yes, gave them a bag and told them the only thing was they could only pick what was reacha...
About a hundred years ago I had my tonsils out, way before this age of "painfree" drugs. Mostly I remember I got to have lots and lots of ice cream, and the nurses gave me very special attention. It was so nice that when I came home I wanted to go back! Hope the experience is just as good for your little angel. Nurses are special people!
...and such is life. :)
The sweet little B has fallen asleep again. She is recovering from tonsillitis, and yes, her tonsils are still very much a part of her. The fever prevented her from having them out. Alas, the entire process will be repeated in a few weeks. Or later, as I have booked a trip (yippppeeee!) to...
Thank you Gillian. The swan's head shot is enough. That's where the
intrigue is. I'll just capture it from your blog. Have a great, profitable,
and happy day! xoxoxo judie

I'm sew in love with you ♥
I wandered into the Singer sewing shop today after work, the owner Mike was just closing up for the day. I asked him how long he had been in business here in our fair city. "Since 1980. But...Singer, is the oldest business in this city and has been here since 1830." He points to an aged an...
Hey Blue! Yeah, it's me, the infrequent visitor! I've been following some of your "You might enjoy these stories" links. What a clever idea. And yes, I did enjoy several of them. That photo of the swan was outstanding. I'm asking permission to capture it for painting. Please?
I saw the link to Oceandreamers paintings. Even before reading, I recognized her work at once. Does that mean you are GOOD when your work is getting recognized? I think so.
Take care. xoxoxoxo

Whatever it is, I know you will make the right decision at the right time, because you have confidence and faith in yourself. I can tell.
BTW, my art journal is not chronologically ordered either! I rather like it that way. xoxoxo
The art of allowing.
I face a dilemma. Sigh. It is giving me some stress. I am apprehensive of doing something that I know will bring me to a place I need to be in my future. The steps necessary to get there do not appeal to me so much. I am prone to thinking that if I just keep doing what I've always done, th...
