Hello everyone! I've really been meaning to do this for a while. When I originally started the second blog on Type Pad it was because I was worried about being able to access our first blog in China. We eventually got a VPN that allows us unrestriced access to the... Continue reading

Thanks Esther! I sincerely enjoy keeping up with you and your family's adventures, and root for your decorating decisions. You've got such an imagination for the potential in things and I would love to be in the same places as you right now. Someday. What fun is life if we never step outside our comfort zones? After all, it's only a floor, right? It's definitely been a worthwhile experience living in Asia though, and I'm glad we've been able to do it. I did get to know the DuBravacs, but had no idea that they were headed this way! I'll have to seek them out! Hope to see you around here more often :)

Perhaps I've made it a little too clear at work how much the summer weather is getting to me. The last two days have been cool in the 60's with rain and wind mixed in because of the typhoons, and I've been in heaven. I walked into work today and... Continue reading

According to the girls I work with, Autumn apparently has already begun in China. The Mid-Autumn Festival, or, Moon Festival is in a couple of weeks, and decorations and special content is being prepared at our center. This, in conjunction with the fact that it's been the mid to high... Continue reading

What a week! With the way my workweek runs, I have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, and work every other day. On Tuesday Jeff turned to me and asked me what I wanted to do for my Birthday. Not having put much thought into it I gave a shrug of my... Continue reading

People that know me well know that I'm a sucker for animals. People that know me even better know that I have a giant potential to be a crazy cat lady someday. However, while Jeff's still around with his allergies, that asperation will have to be put on hold. In... Continue reading

We realized once we tried to take pictures that they simply did not do this dog's size justice. His paws are easily bigger than my hands... and even Jeff is a little nervous around him, just because of his size. We found him a few months ago while wondering downtown,... Continue reading

The Chinese people certainly seem to love their art installations, and so do I! Here are a couple of my favorites from the past couple of months. Oustide the museum for contemporary art were several exhibits. This one was my favorite. I love the subject and detail, and I could... Continue reading

Back in June before my friend Jackie left and before it got unbearably hot outside, Jeff and I visited the pearl market with our friend. Located on the outskirts of Suzhou, this market is the source of most of the worlds fresh water pearls... for CHEAP. I died and went... Continue reading

I don't know about where you are, but here in Suzhou, it's HOT, and HUMID, and only July. Apparently the worse has yet to come, and I'm already a droopy polar bear without its glaciers when I spend more than 5 minutes outside. I really miss my cute little {air... Continue reading

It's kind of incredible to think that we have been in China for over six months now. Time has gone by so quickly that it snuck up on us! I've had a lot to share but have put off because of how busy work has been, and I've quite frankly... Continue reading

Marissa, this is the sweetest and honest post. We are all in different points in life but somehow this post seems to be an applicable one {at least to me} even though I am not in the season of motherhood. I think everyone find themselves in ruts periodically, and it's difficult to gain the right perspective. This is a beautifully put way ti find it.

This past Saturday was the Dragon Boat Festival. Jeff and I live a stone's throw away from the lake so we decided to walk down and enjoy the festivities. It was raining and crowded, but a lot of fun, and it turns out we got to watch a friend race!... Continue reading

Spring is winding down and summer is in the batter's box warming up . From what I've been told summers here are hot and sticky, and the next month is filled with rain. And rain... Life has been business as usual here in Suzhou, and the transient expat community is... Continue reading
