Road Trip!
Sure, we've seen your type around here before and we know you roll. U claim to be a long-time, hard-core, die-hard Miami Hurricanes fan. U say that it's all about "The U" and that U bleed orange and green. U blog all day every day about your beloved Hurricanes football team. U can name ever...

Fall Practice: Day 3
Day three of the #CanesCamp featured the Miami Hurricanes football team in shoulder pads for the first time. Sunday’s spirited practice featured a welcome sound on the Greentree Practice Fields: the sound of pads popping. Second-year head coach Al Golden said Sunday that he and the coaching staf...
Does anyone know when former UM diver (and NCAA champion), Brittany Viola, competes in the Olympics?

Mama There Goes That Man
Former NBA analyst and current Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson used the phrase so often on ESPN that it became almost like his own personal registered trademark. Jackson uses the phrase: "Mama, there goes that man!" to recognize a player who makes a completely amazing play or to d...
Two big weekends with lots of star studded recruits on campus. I'm eager for some POSITIVE news/results.
Why Negative Recruiting Often Backfires
The opening lines to the famous Led Zeppelin song "Your Time Is Gonna Come" goes like this: Lying. Cheating. Hurting. That's all you seem to do. When it comes to college football recruiting and the practice of "negative recruiting" then it appears that the 70's rock band got it right. If you a...
No time to post . . .
I'm watching The U on ESPN2.

Nemo...if U are going to blame D'Onofiro for the defense in spite of the reasons I listed in the article then that is your choice and fair enough. like i said i am NOT arguing that the defense was good, just that it is not ALL on D'No.
And if U are going to blame D'No for the majority of the D's problems then U also HAVE to give him credit for developing and playing Perryman, Chickillo and Finnie as TRUE Freshmen.

Of course, I completely agree.
However, the "bottom line" for any defensive coordinator is OVERALL performance of the defensive TEAM. More often than not, how did our defensive team perform this year? How often did it dominate - and thereby contribute materially to a victory for UM? Conversely, how often was it dominated - thereby resulting in another disappointing loss?
In "D'No's defense" I am NOT saying that the lack of production is ALL his fault. (Where did I say THAT?) However, I am NOT willing to say that NONE of the problem is his fault. Are you? (I don't think so). After all, for every freshman who exceeded expectations, there was at least one or two upperclassmen who seemingly under performed.
Let's see how well D'No and the Golden Coach do recruiting new players on defense - and how well these coaches and players do on game days in the next few years. Hopefully, then, the "bottom line" will reflect a much improved win-loss record and "University of Miami football will be relevant again," as promised by Jefe Dorado when he was named head coach of the U.
In Defense Of D'Onofrio
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, in my opening argument I will attempt to lay out the facts of my case in defense of University of Miami Defensive Coordinator Mark D'Onofrio. While it is undeniable that Miami Hurricane coaches, players and fans are certainly not satisfied with the results of th...
In Defense Of D'Onofrio?
Sorry guys but the only stats that count are these:
How many games did U WIN because the defense excelled?
How many games did U LOSE because the defense sucked?
Listen, in the final analysis it is the HEAD COACH who is responsible for both the OFFENSE and the DEFENSE (and special teams too). So, if the GOLDEN one wants to retain D'Ono (and K'ho and whomever), WhU am I to complain?
Let's hope he lands a stellar 2012 recruiting class. After all, the new Coach's first recruiting class is the first big step toward rebuilding our football program and returning the U to BCS prominence again.
Ooops! When and where have I heard that before?

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Penn State University is reassessing the role of its football program in the wake of a child sexual abuse scandal that has led to criminal charges against a former assistant football coach and the ouster of iconic head coach Joe Paterno. In his first extensive interview since taking office last month, Penn State President Rodney Erickson said Tuesday that he seeks to transform the university's public face from a football factory to a "world class research institution."

Whenever I think about boring Boise State (located in the middle of nowhere) and its rise to the top tier of college football rankings - and the depth to which the beautiful U (located in the exciting 305) has sunk in recent years - I am left to wonder at loud: WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED?

Will Boise State be in BOTH the Big East (in football) AND the Big West (in all sports other than football)?
PS. I've been to Boise. It's a nice LITTLE city, I guess. But I wouldn't want to live there . . . or play college football there . . . or even visit there ever again.

What now? Do I have to go cold turkey for the rest of the winter?
I'm already having withdrawl pains.
