A note to our readers and commenters: Our friends at Weightshift have asked that you hold all comments on Sunday as they'll be in the processes of turning this space into our new site. (You might see the new site up for most or part of the day, but it will still be in test mode, so not "good to go" yet.) Because of how highly we value your comments, we wouldn't want to lose even one. On Monday, although I'm sure we'll be pulling all kinds of levers just behind the curtain, it should be safe to explore, poke around, and yes, get the discussion rolling again. Thanks so much! Michael Continue reading

bystander: there is a lot going on right now behind the scenes, but I wanted to just take a second to thank you and let you know how much we appreciate the BNN readership back.

(Besides the first photo I've seen of Preval in months (of the very few that have appeared in U.S. media, at all), it's the first one I've ever seen of Preval smiling.) ... This discussion thread has gotten miles away from the photo and has hit a reason vs. "mean" ratio that isn't respectful of this site. Also, the use of the thread to promote your name and site in each comment when you're already identified by name with a link to your site is a breach of netiquette in my book.

Kit, I copied the paragraph below from "The Publisher" link in the sidebar. You might get a kick out of the BAGnews link to see what the original site actually looked like. The BAGnewsNotes blog began in June 2003. If you're interested in where the name came from, the current site grew out of a civics tool/visual experiment/political cartoon called BAGnews. Beginning in mid-2004, however, spurred by perceived peculiarities in the photo coverage of the Bush-Kerry presidential campaign, I turned my attention to this new "discipline" -- the visual analysis of political images.

So, I'm having trouble understanding this sign. Without laying down a lot of snark, though, I'm appreciating more and more how the Tea Party is mostly an umbrella for the angry, the confused, the frustrated. (What emphasizes that even more is how this woman in red is centered between someone who apparently thinks the health care legislation might possibly be repealed and one more guy sensing revolution by putting on a powdered wig.) (photo: Scott Olson/Getty Images. caption: Tea Party supporters listen to speaker at a rally for the Tea Party Express national tour during a stop at Davis Park on April 6, 2010 in Rockford, Illinois.
