Tech Tuesday Several times this year, my mom has made the comment that maybe she should get a Facebook page, too. She gets a kick out of seeing our feeds when we leave them up on her computer and was... Continue reading

Tech Tuesday I haven't been a very happy online camper this week, as you can probably tell. When I first took over Tech Tuesdays here, I posted reasons why I love the internet - and those still hold true. Just... Continue reading

Tech Tuesday It's fitting that this post was one I planned to write for the start of hurricane season - and it comes just days after we get our first tropical storm of the year hitting our coast! We tend... Continue reading

(Un) Tech Tuesday A few weeks ago my daughter's school had a festival on Saturday. Since she is in Kindergarten and I haven't been terribly involved other than chaperoning one field trip, this was it. My first time to get... Continue reading

Tech Tuesday It goes without saying that it would be a large adjustment for me to continually get through my daily life without technology. The fact that the family business involves electronics means I really wouldn't have the same daily... Continue reading

Tech Tuesday For quite awhile my husband has wanted an electric car. We are not a kid-toting SUV family by any means. We do curb recycling in addition to saving water that otherwise would go down the drain for our... Continue reading

Family Friday I know in my reality at least, if you're having an event you invite folks on Facebook. Depending on the event, you might not put out paper invitations at all. The sellers of all things party might not... Continue reading

Tech Tuesday Like so many other parents, I had all sorts of plans before my daughter was born. I got a Pack-N-Play for her to lie in while I worked on the computer. A sling to carry her around in... Continue reading

I would say one of the biggest mistakes managers and especially entrepreneurs that start hiring people make, is assuming everyone gets what they are supposed to do! These suggestions work well in a larger, corporate environment where everyone has a specific job description, etc. Most of my working life has been spent working in companies with under ten employees and now for myself! I can attest to the fact that in addition to these rules for interpersonal management, actually knowing what you want your people to accomplish and figuring out how best they can accomplish that is a major factor many, many small business people utterly fail at!

Rick Santorum is the misogynist! Honestly, I love my daughter and I'm glad I had her - but I have responsibilities to the "me" that will still be around (hopefully) long after she is no longer my direct responsibility. Women are not simply wombs walking around, dabbling in hobbies, waiting for the childbearing years to come along and 'make them whole'. That retrograde, religious-sponsored type thinking will do nothing to secure the place of many people in our current environment. If individuals indeed feel that way, so be it. But to know someone looking to be put in charge of public policy on the highest level feels this strongly about it? Well, let's just say sometimes I understand where the 'why bother voting' crowd gets it's opinions.
I hear you! My daughter is a type 1 diabetic, too! So the smallest thing will make me feel like I've somehow harmed her for life. Kids are resilient but sometimes I wonder how resilient the sanity of moms must be?!

Tech Tuesday There are so many ways to watch television these days without even having an antenna. Recently one of the 'add-on' units for your home theater, Boxee, introduced a new feature that brings HD-quality channels in your area to... Continue reading

Tech Tuesday Everyone is always talking about all the bad stuff online. I know that’s the job of the news agencies - they get paid to scare us - but millions of people still travel to cyberspace every day. There's... Continue reading
