OK, so I have some news to share with you. Today, April 22nd, is my last day at SAY Media. Including 2 years at SAKK and 4 years at Six Apart headquarters in 548 4th street, this has been an incredible venture and terrific experience for me to work with all of smart people on numerous exciting projects, but I figured it's time to move on. I should have a lot to write, but instead i'll dump some memorable pictures :) Man, that's a lot of memories. cpanm 1.1.2 is now shipped to CPAN with a small but great improvement: now it automatically cleans up the stale "work directories", so you don't need to worry about the ~/.cpanm/work/* taking up a lot of disk space after a heavy use of cpanm for 1 year etc. The reason I tried to avoid implementing the cleanup was that I really dislike the default behavior of CPAN.pm, which is: It does the cleanup before your installation begins. This feels rude to me, like when you make a phone call to a customer support, they take the call but go on hold, saying "Hey I need to pee. Can you hold on for a minute?" In [day 2](http://advent.plackperl.org/2009/12/day-2-hello-world.html) article I used the plackup command to run the Hello World PSGI application. Plackup is a command line launcher of PSGI applications, inspired by Rack's rackup command. It can be used to run any PSGI applications saved in .psgi file with one of PSGI web server backends using Plack handlers. Meeting great people, mostly from #london.pm was so refreshing and there were lots of lots of quality talks, lovely lightning talks (especially by mst and pdcawley) and a too-much-beer-involved social at a pub after the event, which is awesome. I did a replay of my now favorite PSGI/Plack intro talk with some updates that I made recently. The talk went really well, and got great feedbacks again. And the biggest surprise was that Plack got "the module of 2009" prize at the wrap-up. Last year it went to Tim Bunce's awesome NYTProf, and the competitors this year were rafl's MooseX::Declare and ashb's TryCatch. Awesome company!
